...it will mean that since SB III every team has made it to the Superbowl except the following. Keep in mind I have socks older then the Houston Texans. Houston Jacksonville Detroit New Orleans Cleveland Jets
Jacksonville and Houston are both relatively new franchises. The Lions is one of the original franchises, so they get love for that. The saddest franchise on there is definitely New Orleans.
Go Arizona! I don't know why, but I never really put New Orleans into the same class of sad as Jacksonville, Detroit, and the Jets... the football team that is...
Only Jets fans would use there last SB appearance as a starting reference.. KC has not been back since SB 4..just 1 year less of misery than the Jets
The standard point of reference seems to be "post-merger," which of course corresponds to post-Super Bowl IV, so KC would also be on there. The four big losers of the post-merger world are NYJ, KC, NO, and Detroit. The playoff records of those teams are NYJ: 6-10, 0-2 in AFC conference championship games KC: 3-11, 0-1 in AFC conference championship games NO: 2-6, 0-1 in NFC conference championship games Det: 1-8, 0-1 in NFC conference championship games Amazingly enough, it does seem that the Jets are only the fourth-worst team of the post-merger era. Woo-hoo!
And let me reiterate that this was conditional on the Cardinals winning this week. If they lose, their post-merger playoff record will be 3-5, 0-1 in the NFC championship game, so you would have to put the Jets ahead of them as well.
There's a difference between appearing the Super Bowl and winning it. The Buffalo Bills made 4 straight but came away with nothing and are also a shitty ass franchise... I think you should redo this based on who's WON the SB.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, in their very short history, have been way too successful to be lumped in with the Lions, Saints, or Cardinals. And if you start your analysis at the beginning of the superbowl era, the Jets don't deserve to be lumped in with those pathetic franchises either.
Totally disagree. Why? Because N.O. has always had trouble (Pre-Katrina) filling the seats. Yes, losing plays a part but the JETS are a Major Market team who have Hired the likes of Bill Parcells, have Billionaire owners and have never won squat. Actually, we've Collapsed more in December than we've Won playoff games! The JETS are truly the Court Jesters in the NFL... Wear it proudly folks
Uhm, the Jets have had 12 playoff appearances and 8 total victories in those appearances in their entire history. Have the Jets really had more than 8 December collapses??? If they have, name them. (I'll give you a hint, they haven't) By the way, the Cardinals have won only 1 playoff game since 1947 and the Lions have won only 1 playoff game since 1957.
