http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFL/AFC/AFC+West/Oakland/WWHI/2008/wwhi010809.htm The Raiders have a crowded backfield, with three capable running backs ? Justin Fargas, Darren McFadden and Michael Bush ? in stock. Oakland needed all three of them this year due to the injury problems that Fargas and McFadden went through at different points of the season. While the team shopped Bush at the trade deadline last year, sources say it won?t actively pursue a deal this offseason but will at least entertain offers for him, to get a better idea of his value. After a standout performance in Week 17, in which Bush ran 27 times for 177 yards and two touchdowns, sources say you can bet on owner Al Davis asking for a lot in return from any interested team. If Oakland doesn?t come upon a swap to its liking, it will be happy to have Bush, who is going into only his second season at full health, back again.
He's a young power back, he's looked good when he played, though not great. Is young enough to improve. I think he was a third round pick so I doubt his salary is high. If only we had an overrated, but very fast player to trade for him. What happened to Justin Miller?
do we need to make a thread about every player available..no...the running backs we have are fine and leon doesnt get enough touches as it is
We also have a crowded backfield. Jones and Leon both made the probowl and we have people talking about getting new RBs.... "come on maan"
yes, the team should certainly be worried about acquiring a player for a position that is the least of the problems instead of focusing on a position that actually needs to be improved. the team will be better next year with Michael Bush rather than better corners, so I hope the front office is just as concerned with RB as you.
TJ is a hard worker and a class act but by no means a talented player. He's a workout warrior and he was labeled a bust his first few years because he couldn't do squat without a great o-line. There's no reason we shouldn't try to bring in a young, talented every-down back. Personally, I'd rather we trade for a RB like Michael Bush than spend a number one on a potential 'game-breaking' WR.
Yeah, TJ's only got, what, 1 good year max left in him? I'm not saying trade for Bush (though I like Michael Bush), just refuting the claim that we're set at RB. RBs fall off the cliff really quickly, and TJ will do so next year or the following year, most likely.
One of the growing trends over the last couple of drafts....is that teams are finding talented running backs in the later rounds. Why would we risk giving up picks or a decent player in a trade, when we can satisfy this need in the draft? Leon Washington Peyton Hillis Maurice Jones-Drew Willie Parker (undrafted FA) Matt Forte The backs were all drafted after the first round (except for Fast Willie of course..he wasn't even drafted). Bush has great potential....but i wouldnt' trade the farm for him.
