I was high on Chad Pennington as anyone here ever was. In August, when the team signed Favre and released Chad I think I was in the minority of people here who weren't that excited. I thought Pennington, bulked up and more prepared than ever - with a bigger, better Oline would've had great success for the Jets. Now that things are what they are, everyone's jumped from the Favre ship. I think I'm in them inority again when I say that Favre, with a full off season of preparation in the gym, minicamps, and playbook studying will be much improved. We failed down the stretch, but at 8-3 were an elite team. Perhaps injury is to blame, but you can't ay this guy is washed up only one year removed from his amazing NFC run of '07. A little R&R and the motivation to play for someone he absolutely loves might make a world of difference. http://neswsports.com/2008/12/05/steve-mariucci-interrupts-brett-favre-press-conference-video/ http://www.truveo.com/Mariucci-on-Favre/id/1314729011 http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-139193910.html
i mean, why? its only a stopgap. even if he comes back its for a year tops. after that we got no qb and a crappy coach. not good.
There is the possibility Favre could have 1 more productive year with proper physical training. However, 1 year is the max. You don't make coaching decisions around 1 year. Pass on the Mooch.
I would be OK with Mooch.. But Favre?? Not a chance in hell. The guy is going to be 40. He is only going to be less mobile and more injury prone next season. And his health wasn't the biggest problem. It was his TERRIBLE decision making and throws down the stretch. He was distant in the locker room and apparently wasn't that well-liked on the team. There is NO WAY.. NO WAY I want this guy or his fat ego anywhere near this team.
He also develops quarterbacks, which with a year behind Favre, gets Ratliffe where he needs to be...Clemens as well.
A rational person should think there'd still be room for doubt because of that, but ... I think people here say anything and everything. I secretly wonder if many of them don't wear tinfoil on their heads every day.
Favre needs to prepare in the off season like every other QB if he's coming back. I don't care how great he was years ago, he'll be 40 by mid season and if you're going to compete with young guys you have to work at it. He's not good enough anymore to just be into it on Sundays and be effective for 16 games. We wasn't that badly hurt at the end of this year, it would require a scope at the most---certainly not a torn rotator cuff. He just wore down because he didn't prepare for the season like the other 31 starting NFL QBs did.
Were you drunk when you typed this ? You just be thankfull Brett tried to turn around your team and please remember what you wrote once the Jets "revolving scapegoat QB position" starts since the team management may not be smart enough to push Brett for one more year to finish what he started !!!
