I was just curious as to what you all think of this guy. Personally I'm not sure if we should trade for him, since i wasn't that impressed with him, but wouldn't be upset if we did. I post this just because this is something management might do if they aren't convinced that Clemens or Ratliff are ready. I think its best to just let Clemens, Ratliff, and Ainge battle it out (assuming we don't spend a 1st on a QB). Thoughts?
I wouldn't give anything more than a 5th rounder...it would have to be a conditional pick..to make sure his health doesn't become a problem.
Absolutely not. If we're going to take a chance on somebody, let's let it be one of our own young guys. Anderson is mediocre at best- he is what he is
who wants that contract? What Cleveland did was extremely stupid. They paid him a tremendous amount for having one decent season.
i agree. who knows if clemmens, ratliff, and/or ainge can get the jobs done. we won't know until they play. the pats did not know what brady or cassell could do until they got the chance to play. as the steelers showed under the first 2 years of big ben, if you can run the ball well, then the qb can pass when you want to instead of when you have to. makes a difference in results.
I don't think that highly of him as an NFL starting QB. However, if the price is only a 4th rounder, than value wise it would be worth it.
NOt with that contract he's brining with him. Thats a hell of a lot to pay for a guy who will be little more then a backup.
i'm not Derek Anderson's biggest fan by any means....and i'm not convinced he would be a viable option for the Jets.....however, he did throw 29 TD's last season...and was injured this season. If the Jets could land him for a 5th rounder or less, and restructured his contract....then i would see no reason not to take a flier on him to see what he can do.
The fact that we now know Mangini wasn't in favor of the Favre trade explains why we carried four QBs all season (along with B. Smith). I personally think we may have the guy we need on our bench. I don't think Eric or Tani would have left themselves without a back-up plan knowing Favre's yearly retirement ritual. That said, I think we could find a better experienced player if we are were willing to trade. Besides, why would Mangini (likely the Brown's next coach) want to help us out?
If we add a speedy receiver and the new HC wants to start with his own guy then yeah i wouldnt mind giving up a 2nd or 3rd since we should have 2 2nd Rounder's if the Saints re-sign vilma, Which i believe they will and a 3rd from the Kendall trade. (It might be a 4th im not 100% shure)
