Another great coach we can get turned down by

Also: "Adam Schefter reports, however, that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has a much better chance to get the job than most Jets fans expect. Either way, the Jets are casting a wide net and don't seem close to finishing their process."

I really like Billick and think that he got a raw deal from Baltimore. His main problem is that they never found a qb solution there.

Don't forget that the offensive troubles there were not necessarily his fault, as he was the OC for the '98 Vikings team.

I guess Tanny wasn't kidding when they said that "no rock would be left unturned" in regards to the coaching search.

well....at least he has something in common with the Jets.

I don't think Billick is the answer....and it's for that reason. We need to fix our QB situation...not just for the short term either. Based on what i saw this guy do in Baltimore (w/ Kyle Boller)...i don't feel encouraged that he could remedy our QB situation.

Nobody ever mentions him when looking for a coach. I'm not thrilled with the thought of Billick.

i think this is a good thing for the jets. its not like baltimore wasnt competitive almost every year and he did get them a ring. as far as qb's go, he got the ring with trent dilfer. not exactly one of the better qb's. billick should definitely be considered for the position.

ANYONE who has a coached a super bowl winning team and is available should be considered. Not saying he's the answer but he and Mike S. should get a look.

My first choice is Rex Ryan. However, if we go established coach, and Parcells and Cowher likely off the board, Billick would be my choice.

He has a good way of communicating to players and media which i've always liked. Well respected guy, good track record.

I hate Adam Schefter. I really hope this is NOT true and that we DO NOT end up with Schotty Jr.

Maybe if Billick gets hired here, he can pry Rex Ryan out of Baltimore as a DC

    That would be ideal.
Why would Rex leave Balt and that great D for a lateral job though?

I would be real happy with Ryan as HC, and Billick as OC too..

This is not a crap job. It's a job in the New York market with a better core of young talent than is typically available with a team changing coaches.

Aren't him and Billick close? They worked together for a long time (I think)

Isn't it getting kind of obvious that this team has no idea what direction it wants to go in?

With that said, I'd be in favor of hiring Billick. Great offensive mind, strong personality.

If Mangini got excited like that, his Bubble Yum would fall out of his mouth.

Woody & Co. probably thought prospects would view this job as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when they fired Mangini. How sad.
