Cutler has a ton more heart than Leaf did. You have to have moxy to play for a team as bad as Vandy for four years and still make it to the pros.

I just don't see how anyone can get thrilled at the prospect of drafting a QB on day 1 let alone #4 overall. QB is NOT a pressing need now , but it will be next season , thats draft '07 NOT '06 .....(sarcastic grin)

cutler is ramsey, only worse than ramsey when he came out (cutler is a 2nd round guy, but he won't be taken there...)

    I second that.

I think there's a chance Mario will be available. I'm not convinced N.O. is definitely taking him.

Remember, they've spent 3 1st round draft picks on that D-line over the past 4-years (DE Will Smith 2004, DT Johnathan Sullivan 2003, DE Charles Grant DE 2002).

Linebacker is also IMO a much more pressing need. It wouldn't at all shock me if they targeted Hawk with that second overall pick (or traded down if someone offered them a king's ransom).

Also, grabbing D'brick makes a lot of sense for them because they need to repair that O-line. Yes they've got a young talented right tackle in Jammal Brown, but they've lost Charles Grant and Wayne Gandy. Grabbing D'brick could give them a nice pair of bookends for possibly the next decade.

This draft is very deep with O-lineman though, so I could see how someone could argue that the Saints may address the O-line in the later rounds, and grab what appears to be the next great pass rushing DE in the first round.

I say in a no Mario, no Lienart scenario, we should definately look to trade down and try to grab an additional first rounder in 2007.

IF we did trade down, I would love to grab Deangelo Williams.

I could have just placed that in the above post if I hit the edit button. Sorry. I'm working on 2 hours sleep and can't really see straight.

So, you are saying Cutler should be in the second round even though he has a first round grade? Doesn't make too much sense to me. He will be taken high in round because he has a ton of talent and great intangibles.

Hey Penny, I thought you were a Leinhart desciple? I'm not calling you out or anything, just curious. If you were, and have moved to Cutler, I am just wondering what you have seen that made you change your mind. If I'm wrong, then sorry for the dweeb post.

I have been in Cutler's corner for a few months now. The only QB I would rather get is Croyle this year. I don't want Matt or Vince or any of the other 50 QBs praying their name gets called from the podium. All in all, I would rather skip QB this year, go with Penny/Ramsey/Bolly, trade down the #4, and get a first rounder next year. Then throw the whole draft, if necessary, at Quinn next year.

Mario or Hawk if we stay at 4.

I have said a million times...I like almost ALL of the guys in the top 10 to be jets...Meaning, they all fit in with the Jets well.

I am happy with Cutler, Leinart, Brick, Mario williams, Hawk, and Bush.

Just because I mention someone doesn't mean all the other guys have fallen out of favor. I still like Leinart alot...

In answer to your question, I have been a fan of Cutler's for awhile now.

Ahh gotcha. Just wondering. Again, I wasn't trying to call you out, or get a rise out of you, I was just wondering if there was maybe something you saw recently that I had missed.

Don't you realize that a poster on a message board knows more than NFL scouts? DUH!

Yeah, I probably should have noted that I knew you weren't trying to call me out...

Cutler's top attribute IMO is his toughness...he got whacked constantly at Vandy, but kept hopping right back up. That is what I have seen from him that I like alot.

Yeah, the statement was made a while back, but it is still valid. Leinhart is talented, but what would he have done at Vandy? And what would Cutler have done if he had the USC weapons? Just :eek:hmy:

So here's a question for you. You can have your choice, and whichever one you pick is yours, no worries about draft position, and whoever you take gets the same starting salary as any of the others. Who do you take?

    1) Leinhart
    2) Young
    3) Cutler
    4) Quinn

That's interesting. He filled in nicely for the Saints last season.

Hakim was one of the guys I was saying we should look at this offseason back in November. He's a good playmaker, and could fill the slot role for us. That would give Cotch a chance to develop, and hopefully allow us a decent replacement if JMac can't come back with a decent game next season.
