All I see on this forum is "Brett Favre sucks" and "we'll never be good " threads. By god I've found ones that can easily be translated to "I pity myself" and "Why did they fire Mangini, even though at one point I said Mangini should be fired." I have found people that have just been practically asking for people to feel sorry for them. " I was a fan for 40 years, and I never saw a Superbowl . I know a Vikings fan who has never won a superbowl PERIOD. Then of course there are those people who are doing nothing but trying to find someone the blame. While I was watching the dolphins-jets some people were hating on Mangini. Then Everyone calls for Mangini's head, well you know what? They fired him. You kept calling them idiotic all this time, and they finally let you take the wheel, then you get angry at them for firing Mangini, WHAT YOU TOLD THEM TO DO. Then once someone actually did what you were constantly yelling about, you decide to turn to Favre. The day before Mangini was fired I saw practically only "Fire Mangini" threads , in fact I saw no Favre threads whatsoever. Yet the day after, the board is made up of "Fire Favre thread" I'm afraid if they did, you might turn to Leon Washington or Thomas Jones, then Coles, Keller, ect. And, next onto the Favre controversy, He did suck at the end of the season, but He's still one of the very best choices now, how do you people not see that? I've noticed very lately that only the sun and the moon will please you. For fans who seem to know that we need time to get better, you guys are just constantly talking about how you want the team full of gods immediately. What is good enough? And then I hear people talking about how "Favre came to this team for another 10 mil and to be selfish." If he wanted the money he would have taken the 20 mil offered to him by the Green Bay packers over the summer. He may be trying to play again, and trying to go out with a bang, BUT THE DUDE IS NOT THE DEVIL. Everyone but like 2 people were thrilled about Favre in the beginning, so stop saying " I knew this all along, I'm totally smart" Plus, I find it funny that in a thread about clemens people are saying that he needs a second chance, and that the five games he played don't show what he could do, and yet the same people go to a Favre thread and argue that the last 5 games were enough to judge him. This isn't everyone, there are a few that I highly respect here, and I respect most everyone here anyway, but c'mon. And also, I'm seeing all this about "Chad is amazing now, we shoulda kept him" You know as well as I do, that the Jets would probably be 5-11 if he were on this team still, I don't know what changed, but Chad didn't become a QB deity over the summer, I guarantee you. and thats a Namath kinda guarantee. We have next year, we will ALWAYS have next year, so keep your heads up, stop looking for people to blame and find people to get on the team, and ways to get better. Because I know I know wha kinda comments will come, I won't bother to comment on this thread after this post, at least, though, you can think about this.
He also did not have to become a "QB deity over the summer" he won 10 games with the same CS and less of a team for us in 2006. Something Favre could not do this year with a similar schedule and a much much better team!!! It's not Brett's fault he stunk...
1. Is this the much better team where TJ couldn't be counted on to run it for more than 3 yards a touch for the last 3 or 4 games? 2. The same much better team that saw pass after pass go through recievers hands the last 5 games. 3. The same much better team where the defense let Hillis run all over them even on 2nd and 26, and pretty much any other RB or FB in the last 5 games. 4. The same better team where the OC would call shotgun on third and 1 5. The same better team where the secondary were pretty much outplayed on every single play. And really started looking High School level. 6. The same better team that was so aweful on pass rush that every sports commentator in the world repeatedly made comments about the ridiculous amount of time every QB in the NFL had against us. (IE.. "Seneca Wallace has enough time to eat a sandwhich back there") 7. The same better team who couldn't do anything to keep the pocket from collapsing instantly or protect their QB from being hit on about every single play 8. The same better team that actually added to Favre int count by not being able to either catch the ball/make a play for the ball/show any hustle on a deep route (i saw one play where coles started jogging halfway through his route. the ball was totally catchable because coles and the defense were neck and neck on the run, he gives up and the ball ends up almost intercepted) I guess the defense just wanted to catch the ball worse than Coles wanted to catch his own ball. 9. The same better team where the WR's couldn't get more than 1/2 inch of seperation on any run pretty much the whole season. I know it can be done i saw 31 other teams WR's do it all year. Sometimes they got all crazy elite and even get a few yards of seperation. Bottom line, our WR's don't play for the ball unless it hits them square in the numbers. Minues the one handed awesome catch by Clowney. Yeah your right Jaded Green this team was on fire and it's all one guys fault. How you don't have a job at ESPN or Fox with your considerable knowledge, and ability to look at both sides of the coin is beyond me. Well maybe if Cowher goes back to coaching you'll get his spot. And then you can have your own sports show "I Hate Brett Favre and Everything in the World is His Fault!" To everybody else who doesn't just post thoughtless, and usually pointless repeated Favre bashing posts, i realize he played bad the last 5 games. But if you really look at every player on the team and how the whole team played I think it's easy to see why we lost the last 4 out of 5. It has nothing to do with just one person. The whole team dropped the ball. And i would ask any of you to challenge my points posted above and share your thoughts. Except for Jaded Green because "Cuz Favre sux n stuff" is not a thoughtful answer and i know that's where your already going.
Favre is done. DONE!!! Mangini coached his way to unemployment. He lost the locker room. He never realized there was a cancer growing in his locker room.He has a lot to learn if he wants to be successful. He never grew as a coach.
Yeah, and that was money well spent. We must have amassed what about 60 sacks this year. Oh no ,wait nevermind that wasn't us, we allow opposing QB's to have snacks and take naps during their plays. But dammit, that's Favre's fault, i just haven't figured out how yet.
Mangini got himself fired because he was not man enough to take Farve out. If it was any other QB he would have been removed, but Farve is some kind of legend who won a Super Bowl back in the 1800's or something and everybody is afraid of him. Do you really think a new (experienced) coach is going to have Farve forced upon him? Would he get flack from Woody if he sat him down? That's the kind of coach i want the Jets to get. Someone who has the balls to sit Farve (if he indeed plays next year) if need be. One thing if Woody & Tanny keep getting a woody over Farve than they might not be looking for a QB in free agency. Jets should look at Cassel. But we need coaching that can move him along. If Radcliff can look like he did in pre-season he might be a possibility, but I see Clemens as a 100% unproven QB, with 2 1/2 strikes against him. Last off-season was bright. Hopefully the Jets can get the monkey off their back and get something ready for next year, or we might be out of it WAY BEFORE week 16 next season.
Lol spending money does not mean you will win. And if that was your best retort to his post then wow. Do you even thinki before you post? Or are you simply incapable of doing so? I love the yankees and they spend money like nothing but they haven't won one in a while. Spending money means absolutely nothing if the people you spent the money on don't jell with the team and your coach doesn't know how to coach.
The Jets had 40 sacks, and gave up 30. There is a lot of comments on this board to the effect that the pass blocking was terrible, but as far as I can tell it was average. In the Dolphins game the Jets gave up no sacks and not much pressure, but Farve threw 3 horrible picks anyway.
I would not say it was horrible, i would even agree with average, but with it being better the first 11 games. Favre threw 2 horrible picks. 100% on him. Just bad choices. The third when he was trying to catch the defense sleeping was a good play, a good move, and we would have gotten alot of yardage, but unfortuantely it was our offense that was asleep. After favre hiked the ball our o-line still had no idea that miami wasn't ready for the play and i put that on them. You have to have the sense of awareness for that kind of stuff. I really think that would have worked for most any other team in the NFL because they would have been aware of the defense not lined up and not ready to go, and realized the opportunity that was there.
The pass blocking was far improved over last season but still wasn't terrific....at the same time Favre does hold the ball forever
It was a quick pass and no one on the Dolphins got anywhere close to Favre. What does the o-line's awareness or lack of it have to do with anything? You can blame Favre for overthrowing the ball, Stuckey for not catching it, and Coles for not getting off the line so that Goodman would have something to do besides catch the ball when it came to him, but I don't see what the o-line did wrong.
We're just calling it like it is. The Favre move seemed like a good idea at first (and it was certainly fun for a while), but in the end we have a whole damn mess on our hands as a result. Could something positive come out of this? Absolutely. We could very well end up with a coach of our dreams that will eventually lead us to the Super Bowl. Or the same cycle could be repeated for another 10 years. As Jets fans we haven't really seen our share of controversies, so we may actually be leading up to something good here. I hate to bring up an old adage, but it's true that it is always darkest before the dawn. Keep hope alive. Because as Jets fans, it's all we have.
You'll have to forgive me because: A) My tv was taken over by kids on game day so i had to watch it on a crappy stream B) I'm at working and doing things in the middle of posts and tend to lose my train of though. My point was. Regardless of the play called Favre saw that the defense wasn't set up, if he hikes it quick and gets rid of it we can grab some good yardage before the defense knows whats going on. I honestly couldn't tell from my stream who the intended reciever was, but it did look like whoever Favre was throwing to wasn't paying attention to the defense not lining up and not having the sense of awareness of the play. I could be wrong since most streams are known for their quality, but that's what it appeared to be to me.
So do me a favor and run down all the defenses that had 60 sacks this year? Thats right, the answer is none. Dallas was close at 59, the Steelers second at 51. We did have problems rushing the passer in the second half, but using hyperbole like you do to try and make a point just makes you look silly. Try using valid points and stats for a change.
No clown he did not want a retort from me reads his first post, and no I don't "thinki" before I post, tards like you make it easy not to, plus Favre's stats and the dissatisfied voice of his teammates speak for themselves!!! Do you two really have Favre's cock so far up you're asses, that you are willing to say that in 2006 we had better players then we did this past season? GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Wipe the loads off your faces!!!
Good job on putting a typo in bold. I won't bold "you're" when it should have been "your". Or "reads" which should have been "read". Not to mention the fact that "your" post is just run on sentences. Go get an education "tard". I believe I have said plenty of times that favre played like shit. I'm just not going to blame everything on him. The mere fact that you can not comprehend as much makes you appear ignorant. Did we have better players this year than in 06? On paper it looks that way. did we play better or coach better this year than in 06? Obviously not. So go ahead and keep bashing favre for sucking down the stretch. And since everything is his fault, go ahead and bash him for not blitzing, dropping catchable passes in crucial downs and lastly for making horrible coaching decisions. It's ALL on favre.
Btw, you do know when we were winning the media was saying how much every one in the locker room loved favre. We blew it in the end so of course "bad" stories will appear. All part of ny media, get use to it.
Hey, Mister Jigglebilly? WAKE UP!!!! This was a Jets team that spent somewhere near $140 million on free agents. They brought in the greatest QB of all time to lead the offense. We had a Mangenius" for a coach! So although Jets fans didn't expect a Superbowl? We expected the playoffs. The team fell apart, so nobody is very happy right now. me? I cannot believe how screwed up I have become. I keep watching TV, reading newspapers and following these message boards to try to get a grip on this. I've been a Jets fan for a long time but this one really hurts. And... Anyone who blames the media for reporting on the mess that the Jets became in the end needs to wise up. You don't kill the messenger. The Jets fell apart for a lot of reasons and now, we are forced to find out about them. This "Don't blame the players or the coaches for the Jets losing!" crap just doesn't cut it. The Jets stunk this year and we fans deserve to find out why!
