TJ should learn to keep his mouth shut and act like a professional. His going on radio shows to trash teammates reflects more on him than it does on anybody else. Especially when TJ didn't do Jack against the Dolphins - he played like crap - did he deserve to be benched too?
Exactly. And Favre was mad that Mangini called him out about it in meetings? If you are part of the team, you are not above it. Unfortunately, the upper management gives him a pass.
You may have noticed, Leon was on the field more as the game went on. And like they said, TJ NEVER TALKS. So for him to speak up says that alot of things are going on in the locker room that we know nothing about. And for TJ, how many bad games did he have? How many did Favre have? I think this is more of a cumulative effect.
Hey guys - enjoy the playoffs, let them select a coach, and we'll here from Favre by mid-Feb. No sense in tying yourself in knots - what is done is done and the rest is speculation. Happy New Year
TJ's comments may just be the tip of the iceberg. Fox reported on this story and added that an anonymous GM stated that BF is a difficult case for a coach. Also, that another player was pissed that Favre separated himself from the rest of the group. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9016280/Piling-on:-Jets-teammates-unhappy-with-Favre What went wrong is not all on Favre, but BF seems to be in the middle of a lot of explanations. I'm ready to move on without him. Now I see why guys were pissed at Woody making BF a centerpiece of next year without any coaches consideration. And its clear why McCarthy cut him loose. He's HOF but he's not our guy. Still, I have no regrets whatsoever about going after glory this year. It was worth the risk and we still have some good guys here.
Ted Thompson was the guy that really wanted him gone as he has been handcuffed completely for his entire tenure because of Favre's say in all decisions
That's weird cause I remember people around here blasting Coles, Jordan, Moss, Kendall and anyone else who in the past has said something that was less than what TJ just said. Is TJ wrong? IMO- NO. But this is even worse than anything Coles has ever said. Blasting off on a specific player? Some of you guys are hypocrites. But again, I have nothing against any of those guys when they "spoke up".
Someone hinted at it earlier but TJ gained alot from Favre being behind center. In case you missed it, Ryan Grant had a pretty crappy year and TJ had an amazing one. Basically the same offensive line as last year in GB, just no Favre. Whether you like it or not Favre's presence affects the defense.
Last year Grant only started 7 games and played in 15 but still got 956 yards averaging 5.1 yards per carry. This year he started 14 games and played in 16 and had 1,203 yards averaging 3.9 ypc.
It was more than just Farve who blew our chances this year. It was bad play calling Bad tackleing down the stretch Not stopping the run Zero pass rush in Seattle was it Farves fault Leon Washinton didn't touch the ball much down the stretch? Dropped passes Jenkins Mangini lost the Seattle game Mangini playing prevent defense way too much Was it Farve's fault we didn't pound the ball? no he played like shit, no doubt, but it was a collective effort.
Except Jones got just 10 carries so he wasnt given much of a chance to really do anything and that is because of Favre's 3 picks.
Man, Brett Favre really has wiped is HOF ass with this organization. It is embarrassing. Not only did he pretty much singlehandedly cost this team a playoff spot(a mediocre QB down the stretch gets them 12-4, obviously favre was a pretty horrible one), but Mangini lost his job, and no real coach will come here and work with such a primadonna with no upside. The Jets are headed for some very dark times, and that is saying something for a team that is always in the dark. We are headed for some Kotite-like seasons.
Thomas Jones said what was on his mind. All of a sudden now that gag-order Mangini is gone we get to hear what the players really have to say.
I'm all about teammates speaking for what they believe in. However, I really think that he went about it the wrong way. Throwing him under the bus on a radio show, just makes him look like Tiki Barber. Yeah, it had to be done. But it should've been done in a meeting with W. Johnson and Mike. T.
He hardly handled the ball at all in that game. Wrong place to lay the blame. Im sure his frustration and venting is from him knowing he could have helped thie team win against Miami but wasnt given the chance.
