I think well draft a center but with a midround pick. Trey Teague i think is solid i mean the guy cant be that bad if hes had the starting job in all his years with the bills. Hell be a 2 year stop gap player to get our rookie center we draft this year ready.
I've been saying Mangold since the first day I saw the guy...I'm sticking to my opinion... It's obvious to me, we signed a veteran back-up incase the Mangold Operation doesn't flow smoothly
The guy was brought into compete, end of story. He was not guaranteed a starting job. Newsflash: The team went SH*&HOUSE last year, no one's job is guaranteed (except Vilmas). Still it was a good low risk signing. Kudos.
Groh quit to coach at his alma mater UVA. Edwards wasn't pushed out by Mawae b/c if the organization really listened that much to Mawae when they were deciding whether or not to keep edwards, it doesnt make much sense that they would then go on to cut him. And obviously Parcells and Belichick were never fired. Mawae was cut because he was 35 (Teague is 31), coming off a huge injury, and expensive at a time when it appeared the team was going to be over the cap or at least close to it(before the CBA was renewed)
your friends an idiot, just like ralph wilson!!! There aren't many great centers are there out there, but there are plenty of adequate ones. Your friend obviously knows nothing about football. Willis McGahee ran for 1200 yards last year, when most teams were putting 8 in the box daring the Bills to pass the ball. The offensive line had to be doing something right and that includes Teague. How good he did or didn't do in Buffalo is a reflection of the offensive line as a whole. I bet all those Bills fans out there thought he was a great pick up four years ago. I feel a lot more comfortable with him at center then Kendel.
yeah and they are bills fans, what do you want them to say, there team possibly will be worse than ours this coming season with all the idiotic moves they've made since the season ended Trust me, i live in CNY, the Bills are the games we get here on CBS, he's not outstanding but he's solid. He was probably one of their better linemen for the last few years...INCLUDING last season. Interior wise they had more trouble because their guards didn't play all to hot, and their OT's were subpar, especially Williams (whose gone now anyway). What looks bad is because there tackles were so poor, that all the blitzes came up the middle, because they didn't need any extra outside rushers since opposing teams still could get great pressure one on one. Add-in the fact Losman was overrated coming out and will be a bust, and there other QB's aren't anything to write home about, and teams just stacked the interior against them to stop McGahee. That's where they lined up their players, because there OT's were beat by their guys consistently most of the time. Thus you add that all together, along with the fact the guards were okay but nothing special, and it creates an illusion that the interior part of the Bills offensive line was just horrendous. He's not a star, but he's not a giant liability. He can make the calls, and hike the ball. He'll do his job. Think of him as an older version of the Pats Dan Koppen, a guy who relies on his knowledge and smarts to do his job well, but goes unnoticed. If we draft a guy, look for us (IMO) to take a guy who's a clone of Teague and Koppen from BC like Koppen (it was his successor) in the 5th round.
he actually played tackle at denver. could prove to be back-up insurance at tackle, even if he does not start at center.
Well agreed couldnt of said it better myself. Teague is a solid center that will be good for a few years for our rookie center that we will draft to develop. Just as long as he gets the job done its all good.
Anyone who followed the Jets at the time knew Mawae played politics in the locker room, which led to Groh quitting. Even though he wanted to coach UVA, he would've stayed with the Jets had Mawae not pressured the organization which in turn pressured Groh to resign.
Mangini is taking apage out opf hte parcells / Bellicheck play book. He is signing what Parcells called "hold the fort guys" until the ones he drafts have time to get with the system. Parcells looked for hard workers who would preach his message to the younger players. I'm sure we are still looking at getting some solid young O Line guys like Mangold who can add depth to start but, in too long, work their way into starting positions.
this is all fine and dandy, but I live in buffalo and my buddy (who has season tickets) was pissed at the loss. Said he was the only Olinemen that was good on the team. He thought the jets picking him up was a good move. Very surprisingly it sounds like bills fans just like jets fans, dont all know what they are talking about. People have certain perceptions of players, and their views are biased at times. So there is nothing to do but wait and see how he performs, there is no use taking opinions of fans as they are all over the map anyway.
