If Bill Cowher does indeed become your next coach, I think you guys will probably complain a bit because he's a bit conservative...but he is a very good coach who should be able to take you guys to the next step.

I'm very glad he turned down the Browns....it would be awkward to have to root against him twice a year.

Hope you guys have good fortune trying to get him!

The Jets are a very aggresive team as of now. We blitz 11 guys at once...on FGs. No other time do we blitz more than 4 beasts at once, one of the beast is called Shit Pouha.
We go for it on 4th and 13...if the kicker is injured and we're on the 20 yard line. We do not like going for it on 4th and 1 against shitty teams however.

As conservative as we are right now, Cowher can not really make a difference to it.

He may be conservative, but he isn't stupid. And I'm pretty sure he understands the value of a pass rush.

    I hope we land him!

You've got to be one of the only respectable Steelers fans to post here. Good luck to your team.

I know it's easier to make decisions when you're sitting up in the broadcast booth, but I remember during halftime or post-game, Cowher criticized Mangini for not going on 4th and short in a situation. He also made some comments about how Mangini needed to send more than 3 guys.

He may be conservative, but like you said, he ain't conservative to the point of stupidity. At least I hope not, if he's the main coaching candidate right now.

Cowher won't coach for a weak organization like the Jets - unless the Jets are stupid enough to throw a shitload of money his way and he's money hungry like Favre.

Actually, more or less, it's how much power are they willing to give him. Most "elite" status coaches are all about how much control do they actually get. Do they get to have a major say in trade/draft, will they be allowed to do what they want without interference, including, and I hate to say it, but making a bold move like Andy Reid did and "bench" his prized QB - who if the cards are played right, could return (favre).

Sometimes, getting benched in a game getting out of reach fast is a nice wake up call. You don't lose your job, you just get a nice shot in the head "dude, wtf are you doing. Sit the hell down. I don't care who you are, you don't listen, you ride pine."

Magini doesn't have the balls to say that to any player. Also, maybe it's just me, but Favre had it rolling on that two minute drive, had the offense about 5 seconds away from being set with 40 seconds to go, and Mangini called a timeout. That TO really killed the momentum on that drive, despite the fact that Keller flat out dropped a TD pass.

Thank you. I loved Cowher when he coached the Steelers even though some Steeler fans were quick to say we needed to fire him. He led a lot of undertalented Steeler offenses to the AFC Championship. I mean..if he can get there with Kordell Stewart....Imagine what he can do with Kellen Clemens and/or Favre

    Hey SC. :)

The hubby is really happy he won't have to see Cowher twice a year too.

Cowher has a shit load of talent to work with in NY, IMO. I hope we can make this work.

You know those teams were loaded on the defensive side of the ball.

If the Jets were to put together a defense similar to those Steelers ones, then they could go somewhere with Clemens or Favre.

Why wouldn't you want this kind of specuulation....Cowher would be one of the best guys you could possibly hire. How many other Super Bowl winning head coaches are out there ready to be hired? Unless you think Parcells would come back for another go with the Jets.

I think if Cowher gets the personnel power he wants..he'll get you guys a strong 3-4 defense. Besides...if the Bengals fire Marvin Lewis like I expect them to....I could see him coming to be a 3-4 D coordinator for Cowher again.

Cowher and Lewis together would be sick.

When you say Cowher's conservative, you are talking offensively not defensively correct? I think we need to establish the run more anyway, esp with TJ and LW. If that's being conservative then I'm all in.

I cant remember, did Cowher and Faneca have a rocky relationship or was that beef just between Faneca and the Front Office?

If we can get Cowher, Lambeau and Lewis we will resemble the Steelers D.

Pretty sure Faneca had a good relationship...He was still here for Tomlin's first year as head coach. It was a pure case of the Rooney's not overpaying for a player...though in this case they should have.

    SteelCurtain,

if the jets do indeed get Cowher do you see going all out on defense in the 09 draft? Players like spikes, curry, mauglaga or other OLB's ILB's to become like you say BLITZBURGH =)
