I figured I would take this opportunity to start an official thread. I hope I'm not over stepping my boundaries. So, post everything related to the coaching search and your wish list here.

My personal choice is for someone with experience, preferably a super bowl winner. Parcels to me is too old, if we got him, we would be looking for a new coach again in 2 years. That is too short term. Cowher sounds good, and I like is fiery spirit. He's had success over a long period and I think he would do well with te media under the microscope.
My first choice though, would have to be Brian Billick. His body of work is impressive, and it stood up for a number of seasons. He won a super bowl with no offense and a dominating defense paired with a stout running game. His coaching style also suits the big city media, he has great personality, and his also animated during games.
I am completely against a college coach or a position coach like we got last time.

Good idea. I just wish you would have capitalized the first letter of the thread title. Would look more official.

    Heh.

Nice. I was going to make an assessing coaching talent thread but...as someone mentioned I've just gotten lazier in my time here...I do promise to cut that out now that the offseason offers time to actually...reflect/think about shit so I won't have to deal with the weekly board reactions.

Billick sucks. I'd rather hire someone like Spags or Nolan. I think both of those guys have NY type attitudes, and I think both of them would rock out our D.

I've always been a closet Nolan fan. He (like Mangini before him) has something this franchise lacks...self fucking respect. Theres no ambition here, and I don't think bringing in a retread like Billick would change that shit.

I'd be on the Rex Ryan bandwagon if he didn't seem to want to live the life of a coordinator.

So, how reasonable is it to hope for Parcells as our coach? I remember how confident I felt in his abilities to win any given week in '98. Even in the championship game against a really strong Denver team, I thought we had a good chance. Is there any chance or any indication he would consider a return to coaching? I'm not interested in him being the team president or GM or whatever (totally happy with Tannenbaum as the GM). Just want him to coach. He is fickle, so maybe he would consider a return to the sidelines even if he vowed to never coach again.

I understand the Parcells love affair, but do we need the let down of him walking away after 2?? and then who knows who will be available that year? I want to stabilize the franchise, no more 2-3 yr trials. Listening to the owner and the GM today, I got a sense that they fired mangini because next year was his last on his contract, he did not earn an extension this yr, and the media circus would have been horrendous with a lame duck coach.

I'd make the gamble that with this team, he can get a Super Bowl in those two years. I don't give a shit if he walks away after that.

The more I think about Nolan, the more I like it.

    Nolan or Spags FTW.

    Cowher, Cowher, Cowher!

I'll come up with a second choice after finding out whether or not Cowher is an option.
