I'm agnostic on his firing: I understood it (wonder if Woody pushed more than MT) but could have tolerated a Couglin-like 1-year extension with an ultimatum.

That said....this guy did not quit on the Jets like Al Groh.

Didn't leave us hanging, like Bill Parcells.

    Didn't quit/resign/not quit/not resign...whatever the hell Rich Kotite did.

And of course, he didn't stab us in the back like that disloyal pig and liar Belichicken.

He's a very good coordinator who, like alot of good coordinators, might never make it as a head coach. Or maybe he will -- later.

I will also remember after the TN game that he started his press conference with a well-wishes thought to NYP writer Mark Cannizzaro, who is recuperating from some illness that has taken hiim off the Jets beat the last 7-8 weeks or so.

Classy move....and I am sure that MC didn't like saying that Mangini wasn't a good coach after the Seattle game, knowing that he and Cimini and the other beat guys like and respect Manginin as a person and think he eventually WILL be a good head football coach (or at least resume being a very good defensive coordinator).

Good Luck Eric Mangini...you drove me nuts with your playcalling but you've got a good future ahead of you and nice, supportive young family to keep you company. Best of Luck.

I can't say I hated Mangini, but I am glad he's gone. After that horrid collapse, he just had to go. I hope he does well wherever he moves on to (as long as it doesn't end up biting us in the ass, like Chad).

amen to this....if the Jets really made a decision between Favre and Mangini, they made the wrong choice.

I don't agree with this part, but otherwise I can't disagree with what you've said.

Well, Mangini will not be coaching Buffalo. I guess I can't say that for sure yet.

I never liked him and will never understand all of this ‘Good Coordinator’ talk. He was awful in his one year in New England – and has shown absolutely no ability to make any adjustments. It’s laughable – you could tell by the first two possessions the direction the game was heading.

The times we were successful were when we blew a team out in the first half; with the retards lack of adjustments however the second half was always a nail biter.

Good riddance you retarded inept ball boy – I will not miss you an ounce.

No he won't. In terms of gameplanning and in game adjustments (arguably the 2 most important parts of a coach's job) he isn't on Belicheck's level. And even if he were, it's irrelevant.

After squealing on the Pats during spygate, Mangini will be lucky to get another job in the NFL period. A head coaching job is a pipedream unless he has a long, very successful run as a coordinator (something that, I might add, he has not done so far in his career.)

I liked Eric as well. I was on his side all year until the Seattle game. Not going for it on 4th in the first quarter in the snow did it for me. I feel he lost the team right there.

He shouldn't have been fired, but given our incompetent fuck-ing owner (reaching Dolan levels here) I'm not even going to bother.

    What a freaking joke.

Questions for those that felt he should have stayed:

    1. How do you blame Favre? Mangini wanted him here over Chad.
    2. 3 rookie coaches made the playoffs [Atlanta, Baltimore, Miami]. Some with less talent [Atlanta, Miami]. Is that better coaching?
    3. Wasn't this team built to win now?
    4. Is 1-4 against lesser opponents justifiable?
    5. Did Belichick warn Crennel or Weis not to leave?
    6. How does Chad have his best season post Mangini and Favre his worst under Mangini?
    7. What could Mangini possibly do next season, that he couldn't do this season with a first year, second year, or rookie quarterback?

    Thank you.

he will make a avg NFL coach that bounces around-- his in game mgmt is awful with adjustments.

Even players said they didn't make adjustments and that is what takes a avg coach and makes him a top coach
