Throw more, and abandon the running game. 21 carries - TJ was shut down, but Leon was averaging 6 yards a carry. 6 yards. That should indicate more carries. I just don't get it. Maybe you'll listen to this plead... Don't bash the shit out of Favre in this thread - there are 20 others to do it in. IMO, this is what cost you the game.. you should have run it and then run some more. It is what I feared the most from you guys.
It seems to me that the FO was very insistent on forcing the Farve shit. There's no other excuse for it. It seems every week it was about trying to make Favre be the Hero. Shit other than the 1 bootleg I can't even recall a QB sneak into the line. Why not? It has to be protecting the investment. Sacrificing all the other players and elements of the game just because of who your QB USED to be. Did Favre play like shit? YUP Is it 100% his fault? NOPE Does he deserve some blame? Absolutely! but IMO, there is no need for a team to try and overuse a player because of who he is or what he was. The name on the back should NEVER be more important than the name on the helmet.
Buttle says that you cant look at those ratios -- they mean nothing. Running goes up when you are wiining -- down when you are losing. I agree generally.
It's not even like Jets were down by 3+ scores, which justifies that logic. The game was, basically 1 score game - meaning, if Jets could engineer a drive or two with effective running attack, they could have taken the game.
GOD, I HATED THAT SHIT...... for most of the season, I found myself screaming at the television bwfore they would even snap the ball. :shit:
Last week is was even worse in a snow storm. 38 called passing plays, and 17 carries for TJ, and 3 for Leon.
I like the ratio--running the ball 41 times would have done nothing to help us. We cannot win by running and right now, we can't win by passing either. If we had a defense capable of occasional 3 and outs, a balanced attack would be fine. But to win, we must put points on the board. Do you know that we did not win a game this season where we scored less than 26 points?
