So Huizenga closes the sale of the Dolphins Tuesday. Parcells has a clause in his contract that says he can leave the second ownership changes hands. Plus, his contract is guaranteed, so he gets paid anyways.

If I'm Woody, I offer Parcells a job in a second if this actually goes down. He'd kick this horrific CS out the door right quick!!!!

Parcells has an out clause - Jets may be interested

Here's hoping.....I can only think of a few complete idiots here who would see that as a bad thing for the Jets to do. Actually, I stated the title wrong. I should have said Parcells may be interested in the Jets.

"Will Bill Parcells become a free agent -- again?

It's a possibility, hinging on whether Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga's sale of his majority ownership of the team goes through, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

When Parcells joined the Dolphins as executive vice president of football operations last year, his deal included a one-time out clause that allowed him to walk away, with the rest of his $12 million guaranteed contract fully paid, no strings attached, if Huizenga sold the team.

Earlier this year, Huizenga agreed to sell 95 percent of the Dolphins to New York developer Stephen Ross. Huizenga hopes to close on the deal by early January to ensure that the capital gains taxes on the sale remain at 15 percent before President-elect Barack Obama takes the oath of office in January, Mortensen reported.

Parcells' contract specifically states only Huizenga can be in authority over him. Once Ross officially becomes majority owner, Parcells has to notify Ross within 30 days that he intends to exercise his walk-away clause and collect the full balance of $9 million, Mortensen reported.

At that time, Parcells would be a free agent. And any team that wants his services would not owe compensation to the Dolphins, according to the report.

Among the teams sources say are on Parcells' radar are the New York Jets, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders. However, if Parcells' son-in-law, New England Patriots vice president Scott Pioli, is interested in any of those jobs, Parcells is unlikely to wind up with that team, Mortensen reported. "

He's hurrying up because he's afraid of Obama and the millions of extra taxes he might pay. Apparently BP gets along with the new owner though

Those would be a great two years. After which, well, is it even possible to burn down the same house twice?

Parcells is a goner. And he'd be a fool not to leave. You get your guaranteed money from Miami.

11-5 after 1-15 will warrant a gigantic contract, he'll get a boatload from the Fords to come to Detroit and turn the Lions around.

Parcells ain't going nowhere. I believe the guy is tired of starting and stopping. Look what he's done in one year. Parcells will serve out his contract, only out of loyalty to the players he brought in as well as Sparano.

As far as the Jets are concerned..forgetaboutit!!! Been there..done that.

parcells has no loyalty, and has a chance to DOUBLE his money. He is finished in Miami because of this crazy clause. Every one of us here would bail if in the same situation.

geez, it would be great to have him back but why in the world would he? He's got it made in Miami and he's in the middle of another legendary chapter.

Also, Mike T. has done a helluva job--for me to continue to say this he's going to have to get rid of EM and company this week if we miss the playoffs.

Lets see, South Beach and a team on the rise, or the Swamp and a team soon to be in salary cap hell.

If the team is sold he HAS TO opt out of his contract. Why would he stay for 3 more years and get $9 mil in salary when he can opt out and get $9 mil for nothing? He might end up with the Fish again in a reworked contract but you can't leave $9 mil on the table.

considering I doubt you know Parcell's personally, there is no possible way you can even ratioanally assert something such as whether he is tired of starting and stopping without personal knowledge of Parcell's thought process or preferences.

i thinkParcells is a great football mind as well. If the Lions are smart (which history shows they aren't), they will stay away from a guy who doesn't spend a lot of time wherever he goes. New York would be great, but whyretread another face? He would be better off going somewhere new. I hope to say so will we. We probably wont be, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

There's a good chance there will be no salary cap in the NFL after next season.
