You just compared Woody to Dolan? Are you serious? Woody has been a very solid owner. I hate the psl's but any other owner would have done the same thing. He let Tannenbaum and Mangini rebuild the team and they've done a pretty good job. They still have some holes to fill and they have to decide if Mangini is the right coach going forward. Think about how many other organizations we are in better shape then?
Most of these guys would be first time HC's just like Mangini. I thought no one here wanted someone getting on the job training? Another reason Mangini shouldn't be fired: Nobody has any idea TF they want in the new HC beyond the fact that they want a new one. BTW: Spags did not built the Giants D. Tuck, Osi, Strahan, and Kiwi were all there already. So its no lock that he'll build a good D...I'd love to have him as a D coordinator because he'd actually/hopefully attack....but that isn't happening. As amazing and well thought out as the "change coaches til we find one that will guarantee a Super Bowl win" strategy is...I'm having trouble being convinced that this is the right strategy.
Sure you don't want Mike Tice on this staff too? If Ryan wanted to be a HC, he would have been HC years ago.
The Lions, Bengals, Browns and Faders comes to mind but that's about it as far as franchises in worse shape. Woody has been solid alright and consistent. He's bought in rookie HC candidates to learn on the job time and again. He couldn't get a West Side Stadium done so he decided to abandon NYS altogether for a multibillion dollar timeshare in Jersey. Yep, I look around the league and see all these other Owners doing the exact same thing. Jerry Jones in Dallas is building a 21st century Taj Mahal of stadiums but obviously, he needs to learn more about civic coalition building from our "solid owner". Tannenbaum and Mangini have taken a 10-6 team and in 3 short years, turned it into a 10-6/9-7 team. Now that's real progress there. I'm sure when this season is over, Mangenius will get his extention as well based on his body of work so far. Yeah, this team is right on track for a 2028 SB. I can hardly wait... I'm wondering which team will win a championship first. The Jets or the Knicks.
What coaches from the past New England staff has done good as a Head Coach? Weiss cant even win in college. Crennel cant win in cleveland. I think Mangini is the only one really having any success from what i cant see. Are there any more coaches from that tree that i missed? If i missed some sorry I am losing my mind here christmas shopping
I heard the name Josh McDaniels (New England Offensive Coordinator) being thrown around today. Even mentioned in the same sentence as the Jets. If you are worried about a QB then he would be the answer. He would have the ability to bring Cassel and would install the same offense that has made Matt Cassel a household name and Tom Brady a HOF player. If we go with a rookie HC this is one of the best out there.
You mentioned this in another thread? How do you know? He wanted the Ravens job badly last year, almost leaving when he didn't get it.
I want nothing to do with any Pats coach or QB........ Cassell is Scott Mitchell v2 and who the hell knows if McDaniels can coach a lick without Chicken? Given the track record of Pats Assistants I'd say pass on Josh. Let somebody else make that mistake...... like Detroit
