I googled around and it seems that Mangini gave his famous "don't hit on 20" speech to BF during the week between the KC and BUF games. This was a speech about avoiding INTs by taking fewer chances. Did the great Mangenius help the team with his great coaching? Lets look at the stats.

    BEFORE
    TDs
    15
    INTs
    11
    Rating
    89.3

    AFTER
    TDs
    6
    INTs
    8
    Rating
    80.7

That's 7 games before and 8 games after. This is a quick and dirty tallying of the figures, I welcome any factual correction.

Those stats are statistically irrelevant as to the Black jack speech. It only worked for two games.

So he had 11 ints in 7 games, then 8 ints in 8 games, isn't that an improvement? It just looks worse because he has fewer td passes.

thats part of it, he takes chances.. to harness him is to take away the thing he does best.

which is fine, they should have lessened his opportunities to do something stupid but that wasnt going to work forever. solid running game and play action is how you stop bret from making bad decisions. not talking to him about poker and then forgetting about it for 8 weeks.

It's not that simple, it's a coaches analogy. I have not seen him harnessed at all, looks like the advice didn't sink in. Why throw the ball up in a crowd to avoid a sack, unless your desperate, thats the point. I have to laugh sometimes that you can think this coach a total moron at a possible 10-6 record and a playoff shot. It's not over yet.
