I do not understand clearly why manginius will always pick good plays in the start of game but then he will choose very conservative (??) when the game goes on. if something is working for Jets then why stop it??? if opponent defense is catching the playcalling then why manginius cannot adjust?? these are reasons why I am very irritated by him in this year.
If he is a moron, how come you believed in him after the first year? How did he manage to beat NE and the Titans. Is 9 and 5 moronic?
Belichick was dealing with the old Plan B free agency in the early 1990s. It was harder to turn around a team in those days. Mangini has had two seasons where the Jets had, relatively speaking, easy schedules. In addition, his team was not ravaged by injuries in either season. Yet, through 47 regular season games his record is 23-24. Mangini made some gutsy, aggressive calls in 2006. He did not do so in 2007 or 2008. After the first season, I thought he was a good coach, although I found his robotic approach to press conferences and his excessive coachspeak (core values, "we want players who love football" blah blah blah) to be beyond boring. I also didn't like how injuries had to be kept so secret. Things started to unravel in the summer of 2007 with the Pete Kendall situation. Then there was the Jonathan Vilma injury. It took weeks and weeks before we were told which knee was injured. This was after he had already been placed on IR. In his interviews on WFAN, one could tell Vilma did not like Mangini. I produced a list last December where I noted all the head coaches who had winning percentages below .200 in their second year with a team. History has clearly shown that coaches who do this are simply not good NFL head coaches. Going into Week 17 last year, Mangini was in danger of joining the list. Had the Jets lost to the Chiefs, they would have finished with a winning percentage of .188. Well, they won in overtime, but .188 or .250- not that big of a difference and not really the point anyway. The Jets beat the 1-win Dolphins twice last year. Their other two victories came in overtime contests. The team had injuries, sure, but the biggest problem was the coaching. If this 2008 team had a competent coaching staff, the team would be 11-4 at the minimum right now. This team had a remarkably easy schedule and has not been hurt by injuries. So, only 9-6? Only 9-6? WTF is that?
1. stupid play calling on offense. (not utilizing the talents, 3rd and short shotgun, etc) 2. idiotic defensive playcalls a.k.a 1-2-8 scheme 3. lack of game-time adjustment (including, but not limited to, 2nd half adjustment right after the half time)
No but losing to Oakland, SF, SD, Denver, and Seattle is moronic. The league clearly figured his tactics out after 11 weeks. He is an epic failure when it comes to adjustments... It is moronic!! This team is 9 & 5 because it is absolutely loaded with talent. I was a firm believer in EM until the Seattle loss. I believed Mangini was the prodigy and I like him and his football background. But that loss @ Seattle was just too much. So much on the line, so much more talent than them, ZERO sacks against their whole 2nd-team offensive line!!! WTF Mangini?
Hes emotionless, doesnt seem to really care about how the jets are performing, he hasnt had the team prepared the last couple of weeks. If the jets dont make the playoffs he has to be fired.
Cakes, I respect how deeply you have looked into this but iIdon't buy the second year percentage thing. 9 and 6 is what it is, the Jets have a shot at the playoffs. If Kris Jenkins was healthy the Jets might be 11-4. Coaches like Mangini don't like to discuss injuries. The Kendall situation screwed us last year, true. We have a much better O line than last year and we had a rookie QB for more than half the season. Poll the players and see how many of them like Billy B, they did it fact. Who cares? they play for him. Other coaches on that list were Gruden, Mangini and Coughlin...winners. The players all love Herm but look at KC, they suck. Herm knew we were going into transition and the Jets were going to struggle. Mangini did a good year in 06, 07 was a washout. No line, rookie QB. 10 and 6 makes the playoffs most years. the jets played over there heads and ere very well coached throghout the year. The Patriots ran the table and guess what?..they lost to the 10 and 6 Giants, who buy the way had his own team and giant fans calling for his head early in the season. The Jets played NE twice in 07, the Eagles, Giants, Dallas Pittsburgh, Titans. Not an easy schedule. The Jets do not hit hard or tackle well. Favre is old, it is showing. We got beat by the officals vs SF. Because of parity there are no easy schedules and if you think ours is so easy, look at the playoff scenarios, we get the nod over the Ravens besuae our schedule turned out to be tougher. We have three teams in our division doing well this year. does the whole division suck? Billy B. turned out to be a genius only going into the playoffs once in 4 or 5 years. It's a shame they didn't see that.
Almost everything! I hate the way he treated certain players over the years. He subtly throws guys under the bus, because he so arrogant and believes it cant possibly be his coaching it must be the players. I cant stand his juggling inactive list.. he feels this is motivational to randomly sit guys each week and they don't know it till sat... it doesn't Motivate fatty, its why after only 2 seasons and 2 games you were one of the top 5 coaches players DONT want to play for.. and i really can stand after each disgusting loss, he refers to things working and some not working, situational, cant say at the moment, i really need more time to evaluate the tapes etc... lol its unbelievable how delusional this fat pig is..
You have been a jerk on both sides of the fence all season long. The scary thing is your in college and spend all this time on the internet when you should be getting laid.
I seem to be the only Jet fan who doesn't care if he shows emotion. What bothers me is his attitude that he learned some magical secret for winning football games while with the Pats and all he has to do is stick with it and eventually he'll be a winner.
On NFL network they revealed an anonamous poll of players on coaches regarding likeabilty. Dungy was the only SB winner on the like list. The don't like list had 3 SB winners. They were top 5 polls. You said Vilma did not like Mangini, regarding your list. I don't buy it because I could not make a good evaluation on a coach regarding second year only. What about first or thid year. Sorry, it's been a rough week, that Seatle game has me mortified still. I'm thinking we all had the expectation of 11-4, like you might have. This team is not that good. There are things the coaches need to do better if indeed we do make the playoffs, especially regarding adjustments.
Jenkins injury has little to do with how poorly this team is playing. He has done more than his share, injured or not. Don't fool yourself. SF dominated every facet of that game. Yes, our whole division sucks. We all played divisions that sucked worse than we did, which is why we're all 'doing well'. The Fins are overachievers like we were in 06. If they get into playoffs, they'll bend right over to Indy. Buffalo imploded after starting 5-1 so that pretty much speaks for itself. New England is very well coached and there's some talent there. Aside from their wins against us, Miami, and Arizona, they've lost to every playoff-hopeful team on their schedule.. and Arizona has no defense and Miami and us might not be playoff-bound. When you say 'they', do you mean the Jets? Bills Parcells hand-picked BB as his heir to this team. The guy pretty much spit in our face and trotted right over to NE.
funny thing is I do both... keep up the personal attacks. No one likes you on the internet more than they like me. Ask the board, you're an embarrassment. eat me. praise to revis christ bitch...
I hate how he just stands there with his arms crossed looking like a lost child. I hate the lack of coaching. I swear I have never seen him talk to one player on the sideline. Get in someones face once in a while even if it is to congratulate them on a nice play. News flash Mangini! It is alright to get pissed and show emotion. You don't have to be like that tree stump up in NE. Smile, yell, laugh do something. I hate how he can't even coach up ellis on how not to get caught throwing a snowball.:rofl:
Because he's too smart for his own good. When it was snowing he opted way more pass plays. One would think to run in the snow instead of throwing - not Mangini. The defense would be expecting the run right? So let's throw 35+ times in the heavy snow.
Dude, I'm 40 years old. Honest, you will have more than enough time to burn up internet message boards when your old. Your in college, enjoy life.
I was referring to the Browns and his less than stellar years, the Hooded Hoolum, yes Billy B. SF was defensive breakdown, I believe Jenkins is the lynchpin and is hurt, he was a beast all year until the Denver game and I blamed that on the rain, maybe poor footing affected his rush. He has done more than his share. Now I'm thinking his back is bothering him and it affected the whole D line play. I don't believe our whole division sucks, the league has too much parity, what are you baseing that on? It is the better part of our division beating those teams up, except us. That would make us at least better than two divisions. Jets beat the Titans, does that make them worse than us? The 10 and 6 Giants won the Super Bowl last year. They lost to some crap teams too, badly. The Ravens beat up on the cowboys and thay had an easier schedule than us. I'm saying you can't make that claim regarding schedule, but agree that we should be at least 11-4 based on how well I thought our team is. We are not that good, the expectations became too high when we got Favre, but he is not working out because he is too old, it shows now, late in the season, he is banged up.
dude, you think one thing, i can tell you another.... i'm off from school right now, what do you think i'm doing??? i can be here and have fun at the same time.... you are the child with the personal attacks... i'm not arguing any more... merry xmas. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=39166
