So... A melt down is upon us once again on these boards. Kinda fitting actually. The one thing I was hoping I wouldn't have to read this time of year was everyone's negativity and the panic on these boards. The sky is falling mentality. Classic. Never fails. Regardless, I am going to remain optimistic until those three crucial games this Sunday are over. I have faith that we will leave no stone unturned, we will be swinging for the fences. I gotta believe that. I to am bothered with what I have seen since the Tennessee game. I have more questions then answers on why things are the way they are. It sucks, I agree, yet, I have faith in my team. The point in me making this thread is I am hoping to find some answers to some of my questions. I'm not the smartest football guru in the world but I usually know my stuff. I'm stumped. So I will begin... Passion - Where and Why has this disapeared? To me this passion is what has made us excell in a lot of these games this season. I felt that this passion came from to main sources, two important sources. Kris Jenkins, and Brett Favre. Neither of these guys seem to be playing with any sense of desire all of a sudden. Especially, Kris Jenkins. Maybe I'm wrong, and I just haven't seen it. I believe it was the Patsies game where Kris Jenkins couldn't get in the game because of the no huddle and the camera would pane over to him and he was so fired up to get in there so he could help his team win, he finally got in there and he just destroyed the front line, he even yelled at Lowery for dropping that pick that could've potentially put the game away (atleast I think it was the same game)with a very strong passion. "You got to fucking catch that!!!!" That is what I want to see, I just don't. Defense - Why are they just pussy footing around in these last several games? Seriously.. They are playing like these teams are supposed to lay down for them. I know this D can play so much better, yet, they have been playing down to their potential for several weeks. Mangini - I have so much faith in him. I really do. I think he has potential to do some real magical things for this franchise in years to come. Many would disagree, and that is fine. I don't think he sould go anywhere, especially since this is still supposed to be a rebuilding year, just because we are having a winning season, it shouldn't change that. If you look at the last three years he has been here, he has gotten us back on track. He has us going in the right direction, I don't know how anyone can disagree with that. He has taken a very hard approach for this team, transitions, new schemes, new players and CS. Everything has to be rebuilt, that doesn't just happen, it takes time. A very patient man has to be at the helm and he is just that. Sadly a lot of fans are not the same patient people, with understandable reason. I get that too. I have a problem with his ability to get his players pumped up and amped to get the job done. I have a problem with his lack of knowledge on a lot of in game things, adjustments, substitution, motivation, lack of discipline. Atleast from the human eye, I don't see those things being a very good thing. All of those things need to be good in order to win a lot of these games. Hopefully he will learn from his mistakes, but atleast find a way to get on your players and keep their heads in the game. Brett Favre - I know you get a lot of INT's with this guy. I get that. Look at the games where we were most successful though, he was playing smart with the football. Why is he doing some of the dumbest things at the wrong times lately? Why did he find it neccessary to throw it across field like that against Seattle, when he threw that awful pick to, Wilson? Things like that bother me when you are the guy who is supposed to be the smartest player on that field due to experience alone. WTF? Dolphins - What are they doing that we aren't? What will it take to beat this team? You can't get lucky all the time, but you can be good everyday. So how about we just start being good? Sounds wonderful to me. These are all serious questions, hopefully I can get some views and answers to a lot of them out of all of ya. Try not to be to negative.
we'll if the cheifs scored 31 on them, i think we can to, w/out giving up 31 + does anyone realize the dolphfags have beaten only 2 teams w/winning records this season? they had the second easiest schedule this year. i not only expect us to win this week, but to win by 10 or more.
Fire Mangini. Fire Sutton. Fire Schotty. The season is over. Does anyone for one second belive that Bellicheck will not have the Patriots ready to play? And there you have the difference between our franchise and theirs. Oh yeah, and we have more talented skill players (with the exception of WR's)... Does anyone for one second believe the Ravens D will not be ready to play? Of course not. Therein lies the difference.
That is what I'm talking about. Good outlook, AJF4E. I share your passion heading into this Sunday, I know this team can pull it out!!
So we can start this dreaded "rebuilding" process all over again? No thank you. I am on board with the coordinators getting the axe but I really think Mangini will be a good one.
If they had the 2nd easiest schedule then we had the 1st considering they had a harder schedule then us. We played the same games except for 2. We played Tenn and the Cinn and they played Baltimore and Houston.
passion-that was a knock on jenkins in carolina.he tried to show it wasn't and came out on fire but couldn't keep it going for 16 games.hopefully he can find it again for 3-4 more favre had the same desire until the weather got bad.....unfortunately when your 39 the cold creeps into the bones a little bit and taking hits at the same time i gotta imagine it stopped being fun. defense...no imagination and still 2-3 players away from being really good.once people figured out they can spread us out it was over.than we overcompensated and it cost us our run d mangini-to stubborn for his own good.this whole gameplan specific thing he has going on is gonna cost him his job.look at most of the teams in the play-offs and you'll find a common thread on offense:they do one thing good and they do it every game.now that one thing is different for each team but its their thing and their i.d.if you play the giants you know what they're gonna do the crowd knows what they're gonna do.everyone watching on t.v. knows. they run the ball and make you try to stop it.and they practice it each week.mangini essientlly(sp)tries to install a new offense every week.and what you get is an inconsistent offense with no timing and players that are thinking instead of going on instinct.this btw is my biggest pet peeve with this c.s. favre.....see above thats my opinion i have no idea how this gets fixed in less than 3 years with out a major overhaul in the c.s and k.c. or b.r. panning out
Your type must have argued against Galileo and had "faith" that the earth was the center of the universe, or that the world is flat. Sorry, but this statement is nonsense. Go in peace.
My type? I understand you are trying to be comical, which is good, but this isn't Star Trek. This is football. It is great that you believe that Mangini is the worst coach in the NFL. Great. I just don't. I see to many positives that have come from him being here. I just take a step back and think about my feelings. I think about how I feel now, compared to the horrible disgusting feeling that I felt just three years ago. It is a no brainer to me. He brought in Brett Favre. I never, ever, ever would've imagined Brett Favre as a QB for this team, it happened. I'm thankful for that, if not anything else. I won't feel upset until we officially miss the playoffs, which I am hopeful will not happen. We can still hit a wild card birth without taking the division. I am a Jet, Jaguars, and Bills fan this weekend only. In that order.
I'm not a darksider, and I like your optimism, but this conjured up an image of the captain of the Titanic saying "I won't feel upset until this ship is entirely under the water." I am HUGELY upset at how this team has been led over the past four weeks. We are one miracle/bonehead play away from a four-game losing streak at the most critical time of the year against significantly inferior opposition. Favre has disappeared. Jenkins has disappeared. The offense disappears after the first drive or two. The defense never shows up in the first place. Yet nothing changes. This team is catatonic right now. The Titanic has hit three icebergs and only avoided a fourth by pure fluke. Yet the captain says "hold the course".
I'm not tossing my hat into either circle. All I'm going to say is that if the Jets beat the Dolphins and the Patriots fall to the Bills then this board should cease to exist.
Why the fuck do people with how a football team is led? How vague of an idea is that? What do any of you even know about what goes on in the locker room? On the sidelines? Why isn't the problem with how the team is PLAYING? They've obviously played better and I guess in whatever world "coached better"...whatever that even means....so why are people digging that much deeper? So if the players play better, does that mean the coaches are better coaches? Or...what? How does this super-smart system that I'm called many things for not buying into work?
I hope for the best (as usual) but it's kind of hard to get on any fan because of the way they feel. A lot of Jet fans are also Met fans so the whole possible choke scenario is something I think a lot of people are just completely fed up with. Not to forget this team's history as a whole. But, again, you can only hope for the best, right?
Faith in Mangini? I had faith in him 2 years ago. He's a bitch now, can't get it done. Mainly because his coaching staff blows, but he doesnt make adjustments at half time which i still don't understand. THE ONLY WAY MANGINA CAN STAY IS IF AND ONLY IF THE JETS GET A NEW O AND D COORD, BUT IF WE CAN GET BILL COWER THEN NO MORE MANGINA!!!
I dont get how Mangini was the DB's coach that made an awesome secondary in NE, Made a great secondary here in 06 and 07, I mean ok it wasent the best secondary, but it wasent the worst in the fucking league, Revis is fuckin great after one year, Rhodes broke through when mangini came on bored and I feel Lowrey will get better and even fuckin Elam who sucked isnt so bad either anymore. Mangini is this so called defensive genius but the year he was DC of new england was the year they went 10-6 and had like the 26th overall defense in the league, it makes no sense he seems to be good at coaching DB's thats it, but wait this year he turns it around and our Run D is fantastic our pass rush wasent too bad in the begining and all of a sudden our secondary falls apart? with guys llike Rhodes Revis and even Law, like sometimes I feel maybe the players are just shitting the bed, I know the coach is supposed to call better plays but dont the DB's have to cover their man by their goddamn selves? it really is driving me nuts, why in 06 after the bye weeks our D became awesome? and even last season after the bye week our defense was keeping us in games even with that lack of a run D....I have to say this melt down is the entire team as a whole the players and coaches are to blame, I mean Mangini has shown sparks of greatness and he's a first time coach, dont expect him to come in and be Bill Parcells right off the bat, I say we give mangini another chance, I mean come on he trusted his coordinators and they let him down, but he wanted to get Ryan and he couldnt, why settle with someone else? Sutton is here already keep him untill we find the coordinator we really want there is no reason to just settle, and the last two seaons the D wasent bad, our D this season is bad REAL BAD! I'm done ranting, Im tired and bothered by this fuckin team, if I didnt love them so much I would become a Lions fan, at least then I'll expect the misery...The Jets to me are like a family member, you hate em sometimes but in the end you love them from the bottom of your heart and try hard to except the flaws...because you love em GO JETS:finssuck::finssuck::finssuck::finssuck::finssuck:
