BTW, this is why you trade up for a great pass rusher but not for a great CB

Of all the things there are to complain about on this team, you choose Revis?

It doesn't matter: we'll all be homeless, breadline crashing hobos by next year anyway.

You don't ever pass up impact players, and Revis has been nothing short of that. Unlike Rhodes, Revis makes an impact on every single game in a positive way. Can't question that pick.

So who would you have traded up for?

    Probably last in the league.

  6. Again...it doesnt matter who our players are. We had 7 pro bowlers and 12 if you count alternates..and we still choke in typical fashion. It's hopeless.

First off, this team CAN rush the QB (unlike last year's team), they just refuse to even try to do so. When you're constantly rushing three guys any QB can find the guy in the defense that eventually will come open against this secondary.

Secondly, the problem isn't Revis, the problem is every other CB on the roster sucks, and the safeties aren't great at pass coverage either. Rhodes is a nice player but he made his mark in '06 on surprise safety blitzes and they really don't do that with him anymore.

Finally, as some have said we were supposed to have gotten the pass rusher in Gholston. It's not that you can't trade up for one position or another, you just better be getting a good player if you trade up, no matter the position. And Revis fits that bill.

I hate this thread, you draft talent not positions/need. Yes, sometimes they kinda coincide with one another, but I have never questioned their drafting of Revis (once he started playing). I agree, pass rush is more important than good coverage, but that draft is an exception. I would pick another Revis instead of a Gholston any day.

The player Robertson was most frequently compared to was Warren Sapp, one of the most famous pass-rushing DTs of all time, so yeah, he was expected to get to the QB.

We did sign Pace and draft Gholston #6 overall purposely for a pass rush, it's not like they didn't think of it. Revis is not the problem.

    Diddn't we take a pass rusher w/ a top 5 pick?

Unless we could have drafted a defensive coordinator with one of the picks we gave up, this thread is pretty much ridiculous.

The Revis trade might not have been so bad (if you're choosing to take that stance) if we had a whole secondary for him to play next to.

Isn't this a testament to how bare the cupboard was on the team before?

Or am I just making excuses as usual?

The team took talent where there was talent...meaning they knew we needed more talent...since they chose a CB instead of what some of the wiser here would do...does this mean they have an idea of what they're doing?

    F it....fire 'em anyway.

What difference does it make, when your DC will only rush 3 or 4 players at a time?

No one else in the backfield is very good. Rhodes sucked this year and everyone else is slow. We have to rebuild the rest of the backfield.

A good coaching staff could win with the team as it is currently comprised.
