this game was the worst coached game I have ever seen, and I watched every game of the 1-15 kotite debacle. mangina is in way over his head. he choked big time today. Unfortunately, him and tanny suck each other off constantly so fatgini will probably be back and will also get a 1yr extension to boot.
I haven't felt this hopeless about a Jet's coach since Joe walton was gumming up the works in the mid-80's turning a Jet's team that should have contended for a super bowl in that span into a bunch of under-achieving players. I almost had a coronary the first time Walton put his cap on backwards and hunched over with his hands on his knees on the sidelines. Mangini's look is worse these days.
These past four games have been an exhibition in shitty coaching with today being the cherry on top. Seneca Wallace?! No pass rush, no secondary (wtf, someone is always open in the middle of the field) and no adjustments, EVER. He always has been completely overrated and shouldn't even be allowed on the plane imho. I hate him.
I don't think Cowher would want any part of a crash and burn franchise like the Jets have been for the past 40 years, but as with all pro athletes and coaches these days, money talks and bullshit walks. Everyone has their price. Ask C.C. Sabbathia. Woody has to make him an offer he would he stupid to refuse.
No, Kotite was a clear disaster and there was almost no question from day one that he was going to get frogmarched out the door in short order. Walton coached the Jets for 7 years, 7 YEARS! And from the middle of year 4 it was obvious he was clueless about how to get to the top, let alone over it. Really it was obvious in the first two years when all Walt Michaels work went out the window and the Jets were under .500 each season.
I'm new to these boards, but I absolutely cannot stand this and have to post! Mangini may be the worst coach in the NFL, and his performance this year and last should be more than enough to end this "error". Save for a miracle fumble return against Buffalo, the Jets would have lost every game after Tennessee. Brutal and unforgivable. Cowher is really the only coach that makes sense, IMHO. The Jets just spent a boatload of money and are built to win now. Cowher is likely a Parcells-like coach at this point and may not stay anywhere long-term. I think that the Jets have the personnel in place (provided they keep Favre for one more year or acquire a high-end QB for next year) to make a run next year, but need a championship-caliber coaching staff. I say no to Matt Cassel. I think he'll be brutal outside of the NE system.
Yea but that doesn't...answer the question? For instance...I'm a Cubs fan. Just within MY lifetime as a Cubs fan we've spent like shit, drafted like shit, and generally sucked at being a sports franchise. I've watched the guy that made me a Cubs fan go under the knife after being used heavily as a 20 year old rookie. I've watched the Cubs ruin a guy who was considered the best pitching prospect and college pitcher of all time. I had to listen to Dusty Baker pretend he knows shit. I've watched some random dude get blamed for a major choke job with 8 outs to go before the WS. I've watched us draft like shit. Our 2008 season was damn good...until it came time to play like a top team amongst other top teams. And yet, no Cubs fan I've met or spoke to in my entire life has such a pathetically bleak outlook. It's a fucking game, and this is coming from someone who loves sports more than I lost 99.9% of the human population. The sad thing is many of the older people on this site try to beat that pessimistic crap into the younger posters here. The worst part is that it's fucking working. I'd rather fire the fans than the coaches here, but that can't be done.
No we won't. Why? Because nobody is expecting the Jets to beat Miami next week. Nobody except "real fans" and "Chad fans" that is...
Dude, it's because we love the laundry. But it has reached the breaking point with me. Either Mangini goes or I do.
Hi All, new joiner here and this is my first post. I'm not sure if Mangini will get fired, but I certainly have no confidence in him. The below are a few things that bother me. 1) He seems to consistantly make overly conservative decisions when the situation dictates otherwise. ie. Punting after recovering an on-side kick on the 49ers side of the field on 4th and two. What do you have to gain? A few yards in field position? It ended up in 18 net yards and zero chance to score and build momentum. Today he eschewed a chance to score a TD and went (successfully) for the field goal. Why would he believe that the 3 points would be significant? Yes, conventional logic dictates 3 points in a bad weather game would be important. He should have however EXPECTED a mobile quaterback in Seneca Wallace to buy time with his feet AND gouge the Jets pass defence as has been the case in recent games...snow or not. Seven, not three points, were needed as evidenced by what we saw. and no, the fact that it was still the first quarter is no defence to the strategy. I could go on....no killer instinct....sitting on a lead... 2) Poor use of a first round pick this year. I understand that Gholston may still prove to be a good player, but there is no way ANY team should use a first round pick on a developmental player.(with the exception of a QB) First round picks are for immediate impact players, that's why you take them in the first round and play them immediately. See: Revis Not: Bryan Thomas Now, if Gholston DOES develop in time we will have trained him for another team when he blossoms toward the end of his contract and demands big money. It's either a philisophical error or an error in the evaluation of Gholstons talent and ability to adjust. Either way...not good. 3) Lack of emotion. Don't you guys want to see an angry coach when players don't execute? Properly utilized emotional outbursts when appropriate can be effective. He may do it behind closed doors, but it seems to me it is sometimes needed during the game. Perhaps his demeanor is part of the problem. PS. I used to date a woman who covered the Jets and she said he was nice, but very passive. 4) Inability to adjust on the fly, but more so after half-time. Time and time again the Jets show an ineptitude at adjusting to the opposition's changes after half time. It seems that teams can adjust to the Jets but the Jets cannot make their own adjustments. That's enough for now! lol
LOL, yeah I don't know what some of you are smoking but Lucas DID NOT say that he disagreed with kicking the FG on 4th and goal. Chris is right, that was the one decision Mangini made which they ALL agreed was the right one.
I have a bad feeling that him getting fired just isnt going to happen. We are going to have to sit through another season of this. Oh god lol what if Favre decides he wants to play another year?
For some reason I see 40% because I would say its just under that 50/50 point. If Cowher is readily available however and expresses interest in the Jets I would say 80% chance Manginis gone.
I dunno, the Cubbies situation is sort of unique in professional American sports. If you think Jets fans are unique in their atittude you should have seen Red Sox fans before they finally won the big one. Honest, in the old days when you met someone from Boston and they found out you were from NY they would shout Game 6! Fuck You! I mean it, it happened.
