Watching the game yesterday, i saw he was getting a great push on plays, but the lineman would just redirect him a little bit in his push and then the rb would run where the hole had just opened up. Did anyone else notice this?? I dont think this is his fault and more the de and lb for not filling the gap?? Anyone else have an opinion on this?
I do remember 1 play where the C used Jenkin's momentum when he was going to the left to get him out of the play and it worked... I wish I could remember which run it was. I think he just lost his balance a little and the C took advantage, hopefully it's not injury related.
True, but unlike the others this one has opportunity for discussion. Not just another "this guy sucks," "where has this guy gone," or "this guy should be cut" thread.
Hes hurt, nobody knows how bad and we wont ever unless they pull him out of a game. He clearly is being affected by this ailment as he has disappeared for the most part in the last 3 games. Lets hope he heals up because we all know what the D would be like if he went down. Sadly he playing hurt is still better than without him at all.
He's not playing the position correctly. His job is to take on a double team, not to try and blow up the play in the backfield. He needs to hold his position so the lineman can't use his momentum to block him on an angle.
He is over pursuing on some plays, but I think that is more having to do with him not having any hip drive. Jenkins completely dominated Preston during the first Bills/Jets game and then was a whole different player the second game. Jenkins didn't forget how to play NT. Mangini should cut his plays in half until he gets healthy. Pouha has played well and does a good job.
i have a feeling that the Jets front office listens to the media and the press too much. After all that MVP talk about Jenkins, i feel that the Jets are asking him to do too much. i feel that Sutton just assumes that Kris Jenkins can control the run and pass rush by himself, thus dropping every back for pass coverage. We need to be more aggressive with our Front 7
Unfortunately, he is basically the only one providing anykind of a pass rush. It's kind of a catch-22.
I am getting concerned with his play too. I doubt whether he forgot how to play NT. It must be his injury. The job for NT is the gap control first and foremost - NT is responsible for both A gaps - and then collapsing the pocket, not the other way around. Since he is not controlling both a gaps, opposing rushers are finding ways to gash the run D in the middle. Once this happens, it doesn't matter whether the DEs are controlling their gaps (B/C). That's what was happening last year with Dslob in the middle.
I bet that hip injury is worse than they are letting on. I'd be okay with sitting him out next week and resting him up for Miami. He's that important. We can't stop the run all of a sudden?
i thought they have been playing him less and less every week. i could have sworn that he was in all rushing downs and most passing downs up until 4-5 games ago. then all of a sudden they are pulling him to play a nickel or a dime, which is just not good if they want to get pressure of the qb or stop a draw play. right now we need to focus on getting to the qb and stopping the run up the middle. them not putting pressure on the main man is killing them. look at cutler, give him time and he will burn ya, and he did! Hill? i mean come on, you expect to win against miami in two weeks and you cant sack the qb for one of the worst teams in the leauge? that is much trouble.
He has not been taking on two blockers on every play. Teams have figured out how to negate him. Let him get his momentum going forward then block him on an angle which opens up the middle of the defense. Do you know exactly what the role of the 3-4 "0" technique DT is?
if his hip/back is really bothering him, we need to sit him vs. Seattle. And if Seattle is running the ball all over us and is winning, we bring him off the bench
