Your points are well taken, although to truly understand this defense, you can make any arguments based on stats. The problem is while individual stats may be promising, the JETS defense is a All or nothing. If they get pressure, it usually turns into a sack, BUT when they are not sacking the QB, they are non existent. Usually, teams with high sack numbers are considered dominate becaue the have so many other pressures, that force QBs to make mistakes etc.
Its a good point on your part. I don't know if anyone tracks QB pressures so I cannot answer that, but I do see some for the Jets, not enough so I see your point based on watching the games.
Are you talking about the same Pace that had 2 sacks and a forced fumble yesterday? He's done a pretty damn good job in this non-aggressive defense.
HAHA I was waiting for this. "Relax guys, it's still early in the season; we have plenty of time to correct these flaws."
Even more proof that you just don't watch JETS games. Do you notice how many times a game Thomas and/or Pace are actually covering the flats or dropping back while we rush 3? But I'm sure you'll post later on saying we only rush 3 totally contradicting your statement....
Do you watch the games and our 3-8 defense, with a little flicker of 4-7 here and there, we barely ever blitz both guys
I didn't want to open a thread on this, but the Flight Crew's uniforms (if you want to call them that) were an attrocity.
I've been looking for a source of this stat all year and haven't been able to find it. If anyone knows a site that has pressures/hurries as a stat please link it or PM it.
I don't care what the stats say, the Jets have had no pass rush in 3 weeks. It's lost, gone or broken and something needs to change or they will not make the playoffs. BTW, if you look around the league, sack numbers are up. There is a good chance that Strahan's bullshit record (thanks again, Favre) will be broken by at least one maybe two players, and theres a half dozen guys in the teens. The Jets pass rushers stink. Maybe its Jenkins wearing down. When he was going good against the run, the other guys were making plays
Bryan Thomas got his season's worth of sacks in the first game of the season. He's been missing ever since.
Even though the Giants lost yesterday, look at there defense, they pressured Romo on almost every down.
Mangina might of saved his job! Sent a Christmas gift to the Buffalo coach. Mangina defense is a disgrace because Sutton is just his puppet. Has there been any adjustments these last 3 games. The answer is a flat No! If you know your Defensive ends are not talented to get to the QB then blitz not 1 but 2 outside backers. A blitz is not a 4 man rush with a LB. Ship this guy to the big 8 conference! You will never win in the playoffs not getting a pass rush. Look of some of the QBS that you made looking like Montana. San francisco QB,K.C.QB,AND now the ultimae low LOWSMAN. Mangina if you make playoffs the Qbs Manning,Rothelsberger,Cutler and even Cassell will embarass you! But you would be back next year because you made the playoffs. Wow with that schedule thats is a great accomplishment! I don't think so. Your team has really great amount of talent but you hold them down. You could see that talent in the Titan win.
"Without more pressure, we've got no chance to win...and I'm talking about next week vs. Seneca Wallace." Any word on Hasselbeck? It's Holmgren's last home game as the HC so they are going to come out strong, and Hasselbeck will play if at all possible in that situation.
