Look before I go on to say anything let me first say Washington is my current favorite Jet and we all know how great his ability's can be. However, lately he has made some really dumb moves on punt returns today we saw how bad that call he made on the punt that was downed on the 3. I am a little worried because earlier in the year this was the same guy who was able to draw a penalty (on a kickoff) that gave us a huge field position boost. I don't want to say that Leon is losing it but I have to say that he needs to step up because at this point every yard of field position matters. and:buffaloblows:

Leon Washington tries to make big things happen every time he has the opportunity. I wish more NYJETS had the heart and desire that Leon has.

you know, whatever dumb moves leon make, which are very few. remember the heads up play with ob on the kickoff? i dont remember the team they were playing though. really the big thing is the other guys on the kickoff and punt rerturns making dumb plays. way too many td's called back or nice feild position becasue of blocks in the back or holding. thats much more stupid than any play leon has made in the last few years.

Didn't the ball land around the 10? He was swarmed by the Bills ST.. if he made a mistake fielding it it would have been an easy 6 for Buffalo. I'm not sure that was such a terrible decision on his part.

my point exactly. thanks for the heads up... that helped us win the game as well as his td run today. let him make all the "dumb" moves like that. no problem for me. leon is our MVP.

Leon is an incredible player. We really need to get him the ball more often.

    Okay- this needs to stop...

The FIRST RULE about being a Punt Returner is "Heels on the TEN"

Meaning that if you need to retreat behind the ten yard line to catch a punt, you LET IT GO, and take your chances.

The Bills got great bounces twice today- but Leon did the right thing. Had he retreated and caught the punt at the 8 or 5 or wherever, Westoff would have chewed his ass out on the sideline.

So stop complaining about a punt returner doing what he's coached to do

like I said I know Leon wants to do well and I will not bash him for his mistakes but I have just noticed over the last few games that he has made some poor decisions when it comes to letting a punt go. That being said I still want Leon Washington to return punts

if you want to talk about poor descisions lets put the spotlight on farve, or coles and cotch for not getting open more often. even put it on the d line for allowing so many yards after first contact, but dont point the finger at our best all around player. im telling you right now hes our mvp wether we make the playoffs or not.

In his mind today he probably thought:

"Wow, i broke a huge run. Why dont these idiots give me the ball again"

Washington is a great player who has made numerous huge plays for the Jets, including two today.

However, he let two punts hit the ground today that he should have fielded. The punt late in the game that had the Jets backed up to the 3 landed on about the 15 yard line and had to be fair caught. Washington made a mistake on that play.

very true. coles and cotch do not get open often enough. and coles has alligator arms way too often. thats why the ball has been going to keller and today (wow!) baker. did anyone even know he still played for the team? we need a deep threat and we dont have one. that is just a killer, but when the jets offense has success they dont back it up on d. when the d has a good series, the offense fails to take advantage. its a wicked cycle.

While I definitely feel there were a couple punts he should have made a fair catch on today, this does not change my opinion that Leon Washington is the most exciting and valuable player the Jets have right now on either offense or special teams. Those judgment lapses are pretty minor next to all the smart & amazing things he's done in just about every game this year.
