I swear, it had to be one of the worst hits I've seen in a long, long time and was nearly convinced that his body had been separated in two. I must have rewound that puppy about 10 times, and then, wouldn't you know it, he gets up and walks a few steps on his own. Every so often, a hit makes you flinch, grimace, squirm with sympathetic pain as you watch the guy laying on the turf- this was one of those plays. Did anyone notice if he was in on anymore plays after that hit?
^^ I don't think so, but the fact he was able to walk off the field after a shot like that was amazing.
I'd have to see it in slow motion, but it sure looked like the guy led with his head. Can anyone check that in slow motion?
Yeah he did. It was an extremely dirty play and he deserves to get fined/suspended considering what Smith got for his hit on Boldin.
Smith was hit one way on his legs and the other on his upper body... if that guy wasn't behind Smith after he was drilled he would have crumpled like a pancake more than he did. But yes that was quite a hit (not as bas as the Welker one, though). Held onto the ball though... props.
Yeh it was dirty as the tackle was made, and he could have easily side stepped, just like the Welker hit it should be punished, glad he was alright to walk off, probably a concussion, I walked off once and then got to sidelines and I thought my head was gonna explode and I fell to my knees
No, the tackle WASN'T made yet. Lewis had his arms around Smith but Smith would've likely picked up a couple extra yards? What is Willis supposed to do? Just let him drag Lewis for a ride, maybe for a 1st down? Yeah, that'd be great defense And there was nothing dirty about the hit. Willis led with his shoulder. The H2H contact was incidental. Willis will probably get a fine but there's no reason to suspend him.
There was nothing incidental about Eric Smith's hit on Boldin. Boldin was in the air (i.e. defenseless) and Smith, with a full head of steam, launched himself headfirst at Boldin. Boldin made contact with the center of Smith's helmet. That's pretty flagrant. Brad Smith was running (i.e. he was not defenseless) and Willis, staying on his feet, led with his shoulder, but Smith still made contact with the side of Willis' helmet. Apples and oranges.
Boldin was hit in the back by Rhodes, knocking his head forward into Smith's helmet, incidental. You suck at referee arguments.
abyzmul, Clearly you need your eyes checked, son. Either that or you don't understand the meaning of the word "incidental". If you watch the replay of the hit, Eric Smith launches himself HEADFIRST at Boldin and would have made contact with Boldin's helmet regardless of whether or not he was hit in the back by Rhodes. That's why Smith got suspended.
I think it looked worse then it was, the fact that Smith had his knees buckle kinda with someone on top of him made me go, oh my god, is he ok, and I actually thought back to all the horrendous things and players being paralyzed and what not. I thought that was amazing how he bounced back up after that.
Probably because his muscles seized up when he blacked out. So there was no way the ball was coming out.
Show me the rule, 'son' that states a H2H hit can be differentiated between a player 'launching himself head-first in the air' and a player MAKING HELMET TO HELMET CONTACT. Show me the rule, Mr. Referee.
