yeah that was Coles. pretty disheartening to see that kind of effort from your #1 WR. I think Cotch, although not the most athletic guy, would've still gone for it and maybe got a hand on it. It wasn't easy but it was definitely a catchable ball and Coles should've gone after it.

Shit Moss makes catches like that almost every game. Coles doesn't have to be Moss either... if he doesn't catch fine but at least go after it.

Oh i see . . . So I'm guessing the 21 point victory over the Titans wasn't one of those games . . . Do you see the idiocy in your logic??

Our WRs not being able to get open against 2nd, 3rd and 4th string CBs hurts the team.

I DO NOT WANT TO SEE FAVRE RUN IT, EVER...

EVEN IF, a QB has the mobility, most QB coaches will instruct their star QBs not to run it. Why? Because they don't want their start QB getting hurt. I'd rather see favre just throw it away and go 3 and out then take the risk of a serious injury and be out for the rest of the year (knock on wood, salt over shoulder, etc.)

Actually he's 58. Looks great for a guy who's played in the NFL for 36 years.

This doesn't make sense. If your goal is to see the Jets win then why do you want to go three and out? If your goal is to protect BF's health than advocate benching him.

Matt Cassle burned our asses every time he dropped back and then took off down field. Run dammit run. And if the defender comes near you, slide!

    Awful post.

Yes Favre is not mobile. We all know this. To say the team would be better off with Ratliff? Really?

Maybe in Madden that extra mobility would help when other factors like leadership and experince do not matter. In the real wolrd they do and there is no way you pull Favre for a guy who has never done a single thing in a actual NFL game.

    Silly, Silly thread.

Truly, 55 has little if any cred when it comes to talking about #4.

your not talking about a guy turning from randall cunningham into Ken Obrien, he has great pocket presense and extends many plays- is he gonna run for first down? No! do we want him too no. The guys buys extra time all the time.
Listen Parcells when asked what do you want your QB to do he says put the ball in the endzone and guess what that is what favre has been doing. We have close to 35 offenses touchdowns this year which I guarantee ranks us with the top five in the league.

Totally agree, and no offense your points should be obvious to football fans. I think some of the carping criticism of Favre here is still the work of disgruntled Chad Fans. Those people never seem to give up.

And yet in their most recent meeting, which most agree Cassel played very well in, almost everyone agreed our "sitting duck" quarterback played better.

If Brett wants to pull a John Elway and go for a TD scramble & headfirst dive in the Superbowl like equally-old-man Elway did in the first one he won, I could live with that :)

Favre has a bad game and all of a sudden we should insert a guy who looked good in a couple of preseason games. What a dumb thread.

Farve has never been a sprinter my friend! The problem's that we are experiencing with the passing game in my opinion is the short passing game. Brett Farve stretches defenses and even if its a intermediate range pass there's usually a good size cushion and the pass is completed. We are currently asking Farve to do his best impersonation of Chad Pennington and its making the passing plays pretty predictable. Once again we are telling defenses to play shallow and you have them covered , Run and Pass. Next time you want to bring up a deficiency make something that is actually a problem.

    Good post....

I have to agree. I understand the coaching staff is trying to limit Favre's mistakes, but I think it just creates a bigger problem. The offense has becomne too predictable. The CBs are all up on the Jets receivers, because they know they won't venture another 7-10 yards downfield. With the WRs covered, Favre is forced to improvise and God knows what could happen after that.

This Sunday, the Jets have to go deep on the 49ers secondary. They aren't fast, but they know how to tackle. Playing a short passing game, plays into their strength. Also if the purpose of drafting Keller was to promote matchup problems, how come they aren't using him more downfield?

The Jets used the slants, the short timing routes, and beat the Tits. Shanahan saw the game film. He put in a D that undercut what was accomplished against Tenn. The problem is going deep is not a good fit for the wideouts.

Not sure what the answer is...
