The magic question is 11-5 going to get it done. I say no way, because are conference record is the killer in the wild card. 11-5 with a division loss to miami or buffalo i think will cost us the division. If this jet team wanted a reason to stay focused down the stretch, i think they go it. ITS WIN OR STAY HOME IN JANUARY
11 wins gets them in for sure. Pats and Miami would need to win out to get to 11, and I doubt either one will (though the Pats have a couple easy ones coming up). For the wild card, both the Colts and the Ravens would need to win 3 of 4 to get to 11, and I don't think both will. I think 11 definitely gets them in, and 10 might (historically I think a huge percentage (80%?) of 10 win teams make the playoffs. This year might be tough for 10, but I think 11 definitely gets them in...
we will win the div with 11 wins thus making the playoffs, we would probably win the div with 10 wins if we lose both west coast game and beat the phins and the bills. but 11 and we're in, no question.
When was the last time that a 11-5 team missed the playoffs? With the Patriots, Ravens, Colts, and Miami not far behind, it is definitely possible, though. I still think 11-5 gets us in, 10-6 we might need some tiebreakers.
10-6 could win us a division title.. the pats and dolphins both go 3-1 that puts them at 10-6.. we will probable hold tiebreakers over them
even if the pats and phins win out and all 3 of us are 11-5 if we beat the bills and phins the div is ours.
If we get a lost it can't be to a divisional opponent. Pats - @Seattle, @Oakland, Arizona, @Buffalo Miami - @Buffalo, San Fran, @KC, @Jets I doubt they will run the table because they both have 3 road games. But the teams they play aren't good at all. Pats will be favorites in all those games, even though it might mean nothing. Miami I'm not worried about because I think they will lose @Buffalo but if they win the game against us in the last week will be for everything because they aren't going to lose to San Fran or KC. Colts, I think will run the table. Ravens, won't be an issue. So the Jets can't afford a lost to a divisional opponent because it will also go against our conference record. If they lose, it has to be @Seattle or @San Fran.
I think we definately will get in at 11-5. First of all, I think it's likely that we would win the division with that record because I could see New England losing one of their last 2 games (and finishing 10-6) and I can't see the dolphins beating us in our building in week 17 with the playoffs on the line. Secondly, I don't see there being 2 wildcard teams with 11 wins who would win tie-breakers over us. The only wildcard contenders who can even still do this are the Colts, Dolphins, Pats, and Ravens. There is no way the Dolphins do it because they are not winning in the meadowlands in week 17 if the Jets need the game. (Thus, the best they will finish is 10-6. And even with that, I have been maintaining for a while now that they will lose to a team no one expects them to lose to because they simply aren't that good) The Ravens have a very tough schedule down the stretch and will be hard pressed to get there as well. The Colts will probably get there. That leaves the Pats. But if the Jets have to worry about the Wildcard then that means the Pats won the division (again, I can't see Miami winning the division at 11-5 because they are NOT beating us in our building in week 17). Thus, the Jets, with an 11-5 record, would be the other wildcard team. And again, that is the worst case scenario in my mind. I hate to be overconfident but I really think we could easily run the table and finish 12-4. Even if we lose a game, I think it's likely that the division is ours because I think the Pats will lose one more time.
i would prefer NOT to play for the division in the final game against MIA...i would rather have the Jets secure the division by then.
I agree that I'd rather have the division wrapped up by then myself (I mean, who wouldn't?), however, is anyone really afraid of the dolphins?
no offense, my friend....but a lot of people were saying that about Sunday's game as well. I take nothing for granted anymore, especially with the Jets. Every team is dangerous from here on in....look at what happened to the Bills yesterday....i rest my case.
