Haloti N'Gata.....Would make a great impact at #4 for Jets'. He would be the anchor that the Jets' defense needs. He would be the key piece to the rush defense & with him alone, the Jets' defense is hugely upgraded. AT 29....Jets' take best available player. ***Wild scenerio....Jets' draft Young.....Trade him to Oakland for #7 pick & Oaklands 2nd round, 3rd round, or 4th round pick ? It seems a possibility. N'Gata is the player I really want Jets' to get in 1st round. Darryl Tapp - DE - Virginia Tech....Another player I would love to see Jets' draft in later rounds. He's a high motor, impact player. Worse scenerio.....Strengthen defense & beat teams.....9-0....lol:beer:  ADD ON EXTRA : What if Jets' draft N'gata at #4 & Gabe Watson at #29......Now thats some beef up front ? A llittle food for thought....Now thats what I call upgrading the defense for real.
N'Gata, though looking to be a great prospect, is a bit physically lazy, as you would expect for someone of his size. He is a top 10 player, but not a number 4 pick.
HUH?!hmy: You don't get to be a 1st rounder being lazy. His stamina is in question though for the aforementioned weight issue.
"Physically lazy" means he takes plays off.....it is a very rare breed of animal that is over 300 lb and can keep up with the pace of a full NFL game without taking a play or two off. N'Gata has great strength....if he had, as you say, enough stamina to get him through an entire game he probably would be a top 5 player.
I would love to have his fat ass on the Jets but dont think it is going to happen unless we trade down.
Hey....What about the tandem of "N'Gata & Watson at DT...700 lbs at tackle. :jets: :jets: :jets::jets::jets:
big deuce i don't think the Jets could go wrong with this guy with their late 1st rounder, if he's still on the board: http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9374610 tatsui can play either Tackle or Guard. he opened up some pretty nice holes for Reggie Bush and LenDale White last season.
LOOK. The whole draft a guy and then trade them NBA style was a 1 TIME THING with Eli. That's not going to happen again. Let me explain why. If the Jets draft Young #4, and THEN TRADE HIM to Oakland, Oakland's Rookie Salary cap will reflect the 7th pick, not the 4th, making it VERY DIFFICULT to sign Young. On the other hand, the #7 pick traded to the Jets will think he deserves #4 money, making it very hard on the Jets. Trades in the NFL happen PRIOR TO THE PICK for that reason. The Eli thing was an EXCEPTION.
I've been saying he would be a good pick for a while. Don't think we'll land him though. We most likely won't be looking to take a guard in the first or second round. I doubt he'll be there in the third. Also, he's probably not suited to be an NFL Tackle. He struggled at tackle in college which is why he was moved to guard.
NGota would be a good fit, but a horrible pick at 4. Right now he falls in the 10-12 range value wise.
What would you give for a glimpse at Tangini's War Room Draft board. You know they have it saved on some PC in Hofstra right now and they probably look at it 50 times a day. Well, that's at least what I would be doing and thus poor time management would be my weakness. Honestly who knows how these guys are rated by the JETS, we've been ambushed by past FO's with picks like Lageman and John Abraham. Both were productive players but they were far from expected picks.
NGATA @ 4 = REACH I won't argue that he would help us, but some experts have him ranked as the #2 DT after Bunkley... why take him at #4?
Well, he kind of does have a point with Abraham. I certainly didn't expect that pick (the guys I watched the draft with didn't either). From what I remember, some of the Jets fans that were on hand (at the actual draft) were baffled when his name was announced as well.
No way this is the new regime... This team is smart enough to realize that where they stand there projected to have one of their best drafts in recent memory. Why would we pick a d-tackle who “takes plays off” mangini isn’t going to tolerate it if he’s true to the Patriot mold. He is going to draft a guy he knows he can work with. Hopefully we can get super Mario or d-brick and mangold or carpenter or lawsome later
TOO high at #4 - maybe too high in the top ten but after that sign me up. only see it possible if the jets drop down via trade...... jil
