i don't know why people leave games early if they don't have to do something important after. If you are a fan of the team you should support them for the whole game. Why do you pay all the money to go to the game and then leave early, its like buying the beer drink 3/4ths of it and then throw it. it doesn't make any sense, just so you can get home early?
I never leave early and always pay for it by getting stuck in traffic. Is it true they are going to have train service to the stadium.
i guess thats the only reason, i just dont see how they can be fans if they rather beat traffic then support then be the 12th man and support the team they like
Sometimes leaving early can get you stuck in traffic. The rams game the place emptied out at half time we stayed into the 4th quarter just let the 1/2 time traffic ease
Because when the games aren't close, people would rather drive home, try to beat traffic, and watch more of the 4:00 games when they get home because if they stay til the end, it could be a nightmare. I pretty much never leave before the two minute warning, though sometimes I wish I would leave blowouts so I can watch other games. But in games like the Rams game, usually I can move from my seat (about the 1 yardline, 20th row) down two or three sections and a few rows and sit behind the Jets bench close because a lot of people have already left, making traffic easier as well. And if the weather is shitty, it could just be torture.
A lot of Jets fans are pessimistic and apathetic by nature. I guess that's what you get when your team is stuck in mediocrity for almost 4 decades. Perhaps it will change if they get a SB win..... nah, probably not.
Generally, people don't leave games early unless it looks like it's over. If it looks like it's over, for a lot of people, they'd rather avoid 2 hours of bumper-to-bumper traffic than watch the clock run out. Meanwhile, the 12th man effect is overrated. Noise is good for making it tougher for the other team to hear each other but it's like the players are going to try harder cuz the stands are filled.
I wouldn't leave early either, but on a a night game on a Sunday, when you live on the East end of Long Island, a 4pm game I get home at midnight if I am lucky and have work at 8am the next day.... That's why people leave early. Build the stadium in Jersey for a NY team and that happens.
I've sat on the NJTPK from the stadium to the GW and listened to an entire Yankees game. That was 3.5 hours for what? 5 miles? Getting back to Long Island before the next day was a good reason to leave early, although i only left early maybe twice.
People get frustrated in traffic. If you don't want to deal with that, you either have to leave early or stay quite late, which makes no sense when there are other games to watch and dinner to eat and work the next day.
I never leave games early, even if they're "over" in one way or another...you still don't know what you're going to see. Maybe the debut of some rookie who becomes the next Jerry Rice or Walter Payton at his position, maybe a wacky play that will be remembered forever
The last game that I went to I took the bus back and forth from NYC. The lines were long but it was a hell of a lot better than sitting in the car getting frustrated. Hopefully one good thing that comes out of the new stadium will be the new rail transport they're talking about adding.
It makes no sense to leave early. It's the equivalent of going to the movies and leaving with 10 minutes left in the movie so you don't get stuck in the aisle at the end when everyone leaves at once. The issue is not that people leave a game like the Ram game early when the outcome was not in doubt. It's that people leave early when the game is not over. I've seen 1/3 of the crowd leave a 7 point game with 7-8 minutes left. That makes no sense. If you've devoted 6-7 hours of your day already, what is another 15-30 minutes? If people are rushing home to watch the 4 pm game or eat dinner, they should give up their tickets. That is no excuse for a Jet fan. As for the stadium location - give it up already. Only 20-25 % of fans are from Long Island. If it's too far, stay home and sell your seats. Many teams play outside the city they are named for. Northern New Jersey is still part of the Metro NYC area.
Usually you aren't stuck in an aisle for hours. It's a little different. If the credits are rolling, it is time to go, you don't have to wait until they turn the light back on.
i remember the monday night game aganist the dolphins......imagine how many of those ppl that left early....bet they were kicking themselves listening to the game on the radio huh?? i live in western new york and had a chance to go to a jets game in october 2002 in the meadowlands and it was amazing......i agree if youre not gna stay..give up your tix..the only place i can see the jets play is in buffalo and sometimes its a very hostle place to be:beer:
