Apparently, Trey Teague is decent at calling out assignments and a solid blocker in both the running and passing game. But given his age and Buffalo's willingness to let him go, there are some concerns about his value and longevity.

So, where do you rank Trey Teague among his peers in the NFL? Do you see him as a long term solution, or is he someone brought in to groom our next franchise center?

Personally, I think Trey Teague is a middle of the pack center. He will be a decent "hold the fort" type of player, but I think the main reason he was signed is to bring some much needed experience and veteranship to our OL. I think drafting Mangold is still a very good possibility, unless Katnik proves to be a hidden gem.

The important thing to remember about Teague is that we also have plenty of game film of how he handles our divisional opponents... he also has experience at OT (which could come in handy).

I have lived in Buffalo the past few years (thank God i'm moving in less than a month). I have a lot of friends that are Bills fans and I have watched too many Bills games. #1, he gets blown off the ball EVERYTIME atleast 2 yards. #2, McNally has said that Trey Teague cannot play center in the NFL. Personally, I don't mind the signing as long as Teague is backing someone up.

well, Kreutz, Hartings, SAturday, Mawae, Wiegmann, tobeck, Bentley, Fraley, Koppen, Grove, Raiola, Hardwick, McCollum, Rabach, newberry, Birk, Nalen, Faine, are all DEFINITELY better (and probably in that ordder, roughly). There are a few more maybes here and there on my list.

So that puts him 19. Not bad... I guess.

I'm not sure how Teague would rank among other NFL centers, but the Bills OL as a whole, was a down right disgrace over the last couple of years. Teague was the starting center, so that's all I can really go on. I hear he's quite versitile, so that's a good sign. I still think he's a downgrade however....

Agreed. I laugh when I hear people saying he is a great pass blocker, and an adequate run blocker. As depth this is a good signing, as a starter we are in trouble...

He's ok, veteran player who can play many positions, so he provides needed depth. However, I do not think he is anywhere near the top of the rankings as far as centers go.

I've watched a lot of Buffalo Bills football having grown up in Rochester and Teague is a fairly average, to slightly above average center.

I don't know much about him but Buffalo did a nice job of running between the tackles on us in the game in Buffalo.

well definetely dead last among starters, so that puts him at 32. Then theres probably a few backups and some incoming rookies that are better, so I would say between 35-40. Hopefully we use him as just a back up

Wow. 35-40? I'd say that's pretty harsh considering he has been a starter in the league for at least 5 years.

Than this guy must really suck because Mawae looked like he was toast before he got hurt last year.

He was a tackle in Denver before going to Buffalo and starting as their center. We know how strong that Bills offensive line has been. Seriously, Teague while never being very good before, is terrible now given his age and diminishing skills.

I agree. Mangini didn't sign Teague to be the Jets center for the next 5 years. He's a stopgap while other problems get taken care of and the move has the added benefit of moving Kendall away from the center position (where he was god awful) back to guard (where he can still play well).

Teague can do most things well although he is very susceptible to getting knocked back when a nose tackle is playing right on his helmet in the 3-4 and I question his ability to call blocking adjustments at times because the Bills seemed awfully susceptible to the blitz last year. Still, he'll do the job for now until a better player can be drafted and the position upgraded.

saying he's worse than some backups is, I hope, a joke. Scott Wells, Alex Stepanovich, Todd McClure. Are they better than Teague?

He is slightly below average for an NFL center, based soley on watching Jets vs. Bills and my own opinion.

He's here to compete for the starting job and provide depth. The Jets would love to see someone beat him out. I doubt they picked him wihout doing some research on him. He's not a bad worst case scenario at Center this year as the new FO tinkers with the team.

Exactly. Sure McGahee had 1247 yards last year, but he's an exceptional talent. What scares me is Losman's 26 sacks in 9 games last year and Holcomb's 17 sacks in 10 games last year (they split time in several games). I know Teague is not entirely to blame for all the sacks, but these stats do lend credence to the "DT turnstile" rep he has over at Billszone.com.

Teague is not cut out to be an NFL starter. He's definately in the bottom 10 in the league.

After I read on a number of different boards from fans of other teams how they thought Teague was a Waste and a Turnstyle, I was curious to see how Drob fared against Buffalo.....

Doesn't help DRob's case much - If this guy was such a turnstyle DROB, his 3 Bradway picks and all his money should have racked up sacks and such down Buffalo at will...
