Have you seen there schedule? If they beat us, they could easily go undefeated: @Det, Cle, @Hou... all fairly easy wins. Then they host PIT, who has been on and off all season. They they finish with IND who they already beat once this year. I would hardly say that there is no chance that they they will go undefeated if they beat us. If they beat us, they only have two decent/tough games left.
If last weeks game was a statement game for the Jets then this one has to be a reassurance of what we should expect from them. That is, if this game is anywhere close the Jets have shown that they are a team that can overcome it and win it. Any NFL team on any Sunday is a potentially formidable matchup. But the Titans have really only played one team with any significant balance on both sides of the ball. That would be the Colts who also beat the Patriots in a close one. No, this is the statement game that last week should have been. This is the game to put up or shut up. I expect the Jets to come out like world beaters make a game of it in all three phases and finally put their stamp on the season. And for $hits and giggles do it wearing the the Titans of New York throwbacks just for good measure. This matchup should should gage weather or not fans should even mention the Superbowl and the Jets in the same sentence. I am now officially pumped for this game.
Both the Titans' and Jets' opponents are a combined 40-59-1, so neither team can say they played a tougher schedule so far. The teams have played two common opponents - Cincinnati and Kansas City. The Jets beat Cincinnati 26-14 in week six. The Jets had 252 total yards, 166 passing and 86 rushing. The Titans beat Cincinnati 24-7 in week two. The Titans had 295 total yards, 118 passing and 177 rushing. The Jets beat Kansas City 28-24 in week eight. The Jets had 420 total yards, 285 passing and 135 rushing. The Titans beat Kansas City 34-10 in week seven. The Titans had 455 total yards, 123 passing and 332 rushing. I'm not sure why the Jets decided to pass the ball 40 times against Kansas City. The Chiefs have the worst run defense in the league. In fact, Jones and Washington combined for 17 touches. Your team averaged 5.6 per carry against them. I didn't see the game. Why did the Jets abandon the run against such a bad run defense? I don't think KC stays in that game if you guys run the ball more.
The theory is that the Jets brain trust was trying to outwit the KC defense, in the process they outwitted themselves.
the CS thinks they are smarter than everyone else. They attack strengths and not weaknesses. They are learning from their mistakes though.
Sometimes there is simply no explaining why Schottenheimer does the things he does. Lately he's been calling good games though.
He's been doing a great job the last 3 games. It's no coincidence that this coincides with when they decided to simplify the offense
Like the Pats? Or the Bills at the time? Or the Cardinals? Tennessee isn't good enough to really shake my confidence in this team. We are by far the best team Tenn. has faced all year.
no reason to be conservative in this game.e.m. didn't blitz last week because welker and moss scare the shit out of him.this week there's noone who scares them.revis got one side lowery should be able to hold his side for 2-3 seconds.that leaves rhodes and elam or a second l/b free to blitz.
What? huh? ????? We are the best team Tennessee has played thus far. I don't disagree, but that doesn't take away the fact that they have a great defense and an offense that hasn't made many mistakes. To take them lightly would be a big mistake.
I am not picking a fight because we all want the same thing but its a mistake to think this way, 1. 10-0 in the NFL is tough, tough, tough and they are a 10-0 team. 2. They aren't "due" for anything, what happened before is not a predictor of anything in human behavior except more of the same. NOW, how do we beat them?
Yea...for the Jets...I trust they will take them very seriously. That's what they've done every game, W or L.
