Very good Mr. Obvious. Maybe he will be known as a guy who always wore a green jersey?

Who in their right mind is thinking about Favre winning a SB except some cheesehead in WI? I still can't get the Raiders loss out of my head.

Let's win one game at a time. Taking out an undefeated team is warranting my thoughts.

This thread might work in January.

If Brett were to win one with the Jets he might come back next year. I believe that this will be his one and only season with the Jets unless he goes all the way.

Funny, I would say the exact opposite. Maybe it's just because I've been immersed in "Brett Favre's world" a lot longer, but I can see that a big reason he retired at the end of last year is that he looked at the schedule and realized he probably could not match, let alone exceed, what he did last year. If he thought the trajectory was still upward he would not have done that IMO. If he wins another SB, there is no upside left.
It ain't no cheeseheads doing this. Look at the posts again. It's your own born and bred.

Being a carpetbagger here, I try to walk a fine line on this point, but since you bring it up I'll be honest: I still don't see terribly high odds of the Jets even making the Superbowl this year. Never have, not even for a moment. Perhaps I might begin to start thinking about it if they roll the Titans next week, but that would be the first time. Not even in the last three weeks have the Jets looked that good. The closest they may have come was the first 25 minutes last Thursday.

I'm not saying they can't or anything, just that they haven't shown it. And I'm not even saying that it's alarming they haven't shown it -- if you look at my post the pre-week 1 prediction thread, I said then that even if the Jets did go deep, I still wasn't expecting them to look like they had it all put together until the second half of the season, I wasn't going to sweat sloppy play in the first half too much. But just because I'm allowing for that maturation process, does not mean that I take for granted it will actually happen to enough degree that it will lead to a Superbowl.

what would be his legacy with the Jets if they win the SB? are you seriously asking that question? I'm sure he'll just be as regarded as Boomer Esiason.

ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

I think just the opposite. If the Jets make it deep in the playoffs, or the title game and lose, I think he'll come back. That would be quite an accomplishment considering he joined the team in August. He'd have to believe that with a year together as a unit under thier belt that they can take it all the following year. If they go all the way and win the Super Bowl, he retires on a high note. If they tank the season, I think he'll believe the team has no shot at a championship next year and walk. That being said, this shouldn't even be a concern yet. The season's far from over.

I think it depends on how we lose. If we feel we were beaten fair and square by a better team, I can see Favre retiring. If we feel the game was stolen from us, I can see Favre wanting one more chance.

If Favre wins the Super Bowl in NY he'll be revered as much as Joe Namath is by Jets fans... if not more since it's more recent and in a much more competitive league.

Man we are a long ways from being a legit SB contender much less a winner. But, if by some chance they pull it off he walks away a legend and hopefully the Jets start believing. Favre has a gun arm but his main strengths are that he plays to win and he believes in himself and he trusts his receivers to make plays,

While I think we may be getting ahead of ourselves here just a bit but should the impossible happen I think it would rank him as the 2nd greatest QB in Jets history. The stats are nice and certainly guys who've played here will have better but I think it's the taking the team by the horns mentality. You can see he is a leader and the team respects him and they will fight for him. I think the team believes in itself and that's not because of Brian Schott or Eric Mangini it's because of Brett Favre, if anything he has brought a winning attitude to this franchise. Something they have lacked since the days of Joe Willie.

If Favre gets another ring, he'll have two.

Yeah I agree with that, even if he plays one year, if its a SB winner he is in pretty special company as a Jets QB.
