Our Front Office is adding so much versatility via free agency its going to give them a lot of freedom during the draft to pick the best available player at just about any position throughout the whole draft. Think about it:

Trey Teague has played well at both C and OT. (Combined with Kendall as a OG/C this will give us great flexibility when we draft our O-linemen)

Brad Kassell has played MLB and OLB.

Tim Dwight has played as a flanker, slot and 4th WR, plus he is a great kick returner.

Kimo Von O has played DT in a 4-3, NT in a 3-4 and DE in a 3-4.

Matt Chatham has played all LB positions and is a special teams "ace".

Monsanto Pope has played DT in a 4-3 and supposedly can play NT in the 3-4.

All this flexibility gives us so much more freedom with our picks!

    Good post.

Going into the offseason, this team had more holes than a block of swiss cheese, and it looked like we were heading toward a 3-13 season next year. Our free agent signings have given us some great flexibility in the draft, and now instead of drafting to fill our holes, we can draft the best available players instead.

Right now, I think our biggest weakness is RT, and if one is signed before the draft, we will have full flexibility to draft whoever we desire.

The Jets have a lot of picks to work with and I am confident they will address the needs they have. They've done fine in FA. The question is what positions have higher priorities over others to Mangini, Tannenbaum, and company.

    A Plan

I can't remeber ever getting a wiff of a plan in the last few years. You can actually see the makings of a plan that has been well thought out developing right before your eyes. Now is normally when the Jets draft TE back to back just to give us hope and then smack us in the face with a coal shovel.

    Lets hope for change.

Tangini has so much to prove with this draft and I think they are gonna make it their bitch. The silence is deafening.
