Now that they have signed Trey Teague look for them to sign a vet r/tackle in the next few days. All of a sudden the porious o line will be solid. They will still draft a guarg and 1 or 2 tackles but if thye sign a vet for r/tackle forget about Ferguson at the 4 spot. if Williams is gone and Leinart and Ferguson are there at 4 its almost a lock they will move down a few slots. They will stock pile picks and get the best available player between 5 and 8. As i said earlier the Packers are really looking at QBS and they my flip with the Jets. Hawk would still be there and that would be a steal at 5. We still have 2 weeks to go and things can change real quick.

Yes the Offensive line really is cleaning up. But we still need a player for RT and young guys for Center and Left Guard. So at the very least there should be 3 offensive lineman chosen within the first 4 rounds.

I would really like Marcus McNeil OT, Auburn at #29 or #35.

    We are set at:
    LT Adrian Jones
    C Trey Teague
    G Pete Kendall

Now we need one more G and a RT and we are solid at o-line.

Yeah I think the line will be completed later on in the draft. I would still be happy with taking Brick and having Jones play RT but then again he isn't great there and we don't want a guy who is just "OK" protecting our QBs back. Right now it looks like Jones, Kendall, Teague, Goodwin, ?....so that ? can be filled in round 2 or late round one maybe.

That doesn't mean that we don't need to draft replacements. Trey Teague and Pete Kendall can play for a year or two, but I don't want to build my line around them.

Remember....Cavca ? Out last season w/ broken arm. He has potential.

I would love McNeil also. Get some real beef up front.:martin:

Our FA pick ups help out now, we still need too draft guys now that can learn so we can use them in the future.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Trey Teague is going to be our saviour?

I'll still take Mangold at #35 (maybe not #29 but who knows)
and I still think we need to take at least 1 player for the three OL positions (Guard, Tackle, Center) in the draft just so we can get some youth and some depth.

Yes, but now we have options.

We don't HAVE to take Mangold at 29

If he's there, great, if he's the BPA, they can still take him. But now we have options.

I always prefer they take BPA over a need. If they happen to coincide, all the better :)

In what way is Jones - Moore - Teague - Kendall - Cavka a nearly completed offensive line? I am only comfortable with 3 of those players, and none of them is a bona fide star at his position.

If Teague is going to be our starting center, unless we pull an anchor out of the draft (Ferguson and maybe Justice are the only players I see with the potential to have that kind of an impact immediately) this offensive line will fail.

I think the rebuilding of our o-line has not even started yet. Teague is very mediocre, but is very versatile and provides great depth. However, we still need to have a better, younger nucleus for the o-line. This will not truly start until we get another tackle.

i wanted McNeil all along until i saw the medical issues posted by Scouts INC:

"Weaknesses: Has a medical issue (stenosis of the spine) that could cause long-term concern. Keeping his weight in check will always be a concern. He has ballooned in the past and can look extremely sluggish when overweight."

i'm no doctor, but this sounds potentially bad; at least, bad enough that we shouldn't use #29 or #35 on him.

    cheers

    haha, true.

the two guys that don't raise any flags are Jonathan Scott and Jermey Trueblood. both need to develop more, but they have no significant injury history and they have a bunch of potential.

    cheers

Teague seems like what Parcells used to call tyhe "hold the fort" kind of guy.

I think this is more accurate

    LG Adrian Jones
    C Trey Teague
    RG Pete Kendall

All we need are the bookends.

Teague is a nice addition to our oline but we still need to get some young guys in here. We get some good young olineman in the draft and give them a year or 2 to learn before they have to take over for the old guys.
