There are some incredible similarities between 1969 and 2009.

    (1) Legendary gunslingers at the QB position.
    (2) Excellent ground game.
    (3) Solid O-line play.
    (4) Under-rated defense that can stop the run and can come up big in the passing game when required.
    (5) Heavy underdogs to win it all.
    (6) Chemistry - the 1969 team had incredible chemistry especially with Namath unifying the team along racial lines as well as with his positive leadership capabilities. This year Brett Favre is having a similar effect except it's not racial but rather providing confidence and a sense of yes we can.

This may be the year that we win it all. In fact, I'm predicting that our beloved Jets win it all this year!

The biggest difference is our Championship team was the '68 Jets and if we win this year we'll be the '08 Jets?

So far everyone is being a jerk to this guy. Exactly when did he screw all your wives and why can't you be grateful for the fine sons he gave you?

Joe Namath wasn't legendary yet in 1969, not until he won the SB.

Here's why it is different. We had a head coach who had coached at all levels for 40 years and we had Buddy Ryan as our DC. They made the difference in SB3 and I'm not sure the guys we have now are up to the task.

We will know in a few weeks. We are a better team than NE without Brady. We are better than Tennessee with Collins too. Definitly better than Denver. The question is are we coached as well? We will know soon.

I was talking to Earl Christy (69 Jets) yesterday and he said he and Namath where talking at the KC game about how much this team reminds them of the 69 team.

But didn't Namath criticize the Jets for their poor play during the broadcast of that game?

something about the overall concept of the team was bad.... basically a way to say that Mangini wasn't getting the most out of this team... but apparently he woke up and put a good gameplan together.

That's the point I was going to make. Favre's status is set whether he wins here or not.

Should Favre guarantee it if they make it?

He might as well. It would be a cruel, cruel world to get to the Super Bowl the year after the Giants and 40 years after our first only to lose it.

Cruel. It would be very, very cruel.
