wow, if we decide to wait a year on Center - next year when we have less areas to address - this gives us a lot of flexibility in R1.

nevertheless, i don't think Mangold would be a bad selection; now it's just not as imperative to draft him. Furthermore, if the coaches are confident in Katnik and he pans out, we may not have to spend a pick at all on Center.

    cheers

From ESPN.com. Sounds like Teague's in the Mawae mold, though not as stout vs. the bull rush or big NTs. I have a tape of the 1/1/06 game vs. Buffalo, so I'll have to watch it.

"He's intelligent, has good leadership skills and calls a good game. He is tall and has long arms. He is athletic and mobile. Has quick feet and shows good agility. He's at his best in space. He does a great job of helping his OG's in the running and passing games. However, Teague lacks ideal bulk and strength. He's at his best when uncovered. Will have trouble in matchups versus massive NT's. Is tall and has trouble staying low. Lacks ideal leg strength and base. Won't push the pile in the running game. Is more of a position-and-wall-off type. Lacks explosive upper body strength. Does not show explosive power in his initial punch. Gets pushed around too much by stronger DL that bull rush him in pass pro. Will get driven back into the QB occasionally vs. elite NT bull rushers."

now that we don't need to look for center in the draft, does this make room for us to draft a RB in the 2nd or 3rd round?

i just saw that four-round Kiper mock and it occurred to me...

if we pick-up Eslinger in R4, i'd be very happy.

Teague gives us two years - maybe even one - so we'll have to fill the Center hole again anyway. Eslinger would be able to learn and then do that. Either way, having Katnik and getting Eslinger gives us some options.

    cheers

I say we still for sure take Mangold if he's there at 29...

we still need a great o-line to be a great team...signing mediocre guys won't do the trick....

although if white or williams (RB's) are there at 29, you've REALLY gotta consider them.....although a DE prospect would also be nice....

so in the end i guess you go BPA

well guys, it looks like our line is getting more depth. As it stands:
    LT: Adrian Jones
    G: Pete Kendall
    C: Bill Teague
    G: Brandon Moore
    RT: Draft?????

I don't believe we have enough depth so, taking D'Brick is the way we will go. Yet, i heard on epsn1050 that Mario takes plays off. Maybe, as a result of this rumor, he falls to 4 and we can't resist.

Teague is regarded as one of the best pass-blocking centers in the league.
Teague has appeared in 94 games and started 80 of them.

That quote says it all right there. He's durable, smart, and most importantly a veteran. I still think we should go w/ the BPA (best player available) strategy. However, this pickup has made the center position no longer a desperate need.

    Building Depth

Tangini needed to create some competition for camp. Don't be suprised to see 3-4 more linemen in the draft. I'm not 100% sold on taking Dbrick at 4 but they will be hunting for value in the later rounds, especially on the O-Line. I don't remember what round Fabini was drafted, but I know it wasn't round #1 and I think he started and performed well as a rookie.

now that mangold might not be our pick at 29, do you think it is at all possible we could be targeting a certain wr (holmes, jackson, or moss)? i know it hasn't been talked about at all, but who knows

I still think we could go D'Brickashaw at #4 but now #29 is a crapshoot. I still am leaning towards Mario Williams, but we may not even get the chance at him if N.O. can't trade down.

Holmes and Jackson should be gone by the 29th pick. I don't personally think we even need to draft a WR. I think it will now be defense at 29. Will Lawson still be there then?

Jackson and Holmes will SURELY be gone...

    although Moss isn't such a far-fetched idea...(although we'd take him with our 2nd)...

    1.Coles
    2.Moss
    3.Jmac
    4.Cotch
    5.Dwight

I think that sounds really nice...

and then maybe we'd convince santana to come back as well:lol:

I don't think a wide reciever is on the top agenda right now. But I would welcome any of those. :)

I don't think Bush is going to be there, I'm rooting on picking up a QB or AJ Hawk.
