Yeah, I have to say that I am shocked at some of the Favre bashing in this thread. For people to actually be writing shit like "Favre is average at best" and "he wouldn't even be in my top 10 of all-time" is actually laughable. I mean, I happen to not rank him as the number 1 QB ever, however, I just don't deem it respectable to not have him in your top five of all-time. I just think it becomes irrational to not see him as one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. He has every record and has received the utmost respect and admiration from his contemporary players and coaches. I'm not sure what more there is to say.
You can never underestimate the lack of cred/lack of football knowledge/willingness to engage in illogical arguments in/by Chad Fans.
I'm still waiting for you to name your 5 quarterbacks you'd take over Favre. (actually, in one post you said he may not even be in the top 10, however, 5 will do for now)
Well, the people around here obviously aren't very smart either. When everybody who ever played or coached the game considers him at least in the top 5 then it really doesn't matter what the fools here think. (Next you will see a post from one of them that says prove it.)
Yeah, it's akin to saying "Babe Ruth is average at best" Because, you know, he struck out a lot, and at the end he couldn't even run (and then take that final year and extrapolate back to the rest of the career and talk like that's the way he was all along). My hunch is that the critics are young. I think when you get older, you really start to appreciate that keeping it up year after year, even if you are no longer the absolutely best playing the game any more, is actually a lot more impressive than having a five-year flash of glory then fizzling out. I mean, I still respect Vinnie and Doug Flutie immensely, even though they're hardly on the radar of anyone's top 10 lists. I predict for every moron here saying "Favre sucks and Brady is the best ever," in ten years there will be another (or maybe the same moron?) saying "Brady sucks and <insert name here> is the best ever." Because they didn't see Brady today in 2000-2007, or forgot what he was like in the past, and so won't know any better. Marino, Elway, Montana, Layne, and Baugh all got old and lost part of their game. nyjunc seems to think Brady never will. Whatever. Assuming Brady is still playing in 10 years.. I'm not so sure. Everyone last year was saying Peyton would break Favre's records, but he's starting to look mortal this year, I'm not so sure he'll be able to play long enough.
Trent Dilfer, Mike and Mike, this morning, says Favre the greatest football player ever to play QB. Always thought Warren Sapp had a crush on him too, or maybe just a way to get on ESPN highlight tape. Favorite commercial, John Randall, chasing chicken dressed in #4 jersey. How can you not like a guy, that just refuses to give up, that always thinks he can make just one more play?
I did, you dont win games just because you have a slightly higher QB rating fella. Maybe this is a new concept for you but YOU NEED POINTS TO WIN A GAME and a QB who can score those points. Keep him, maybe he will reach the total TD's that Favre has at this point by the end of the season.
your going to be pissed off once you realize that chad can't get you in the big games or do well in the big games. Chad always starts off nice. Then he decides to shit the bed.
Those are all valid stats, but you're forgetting one important thing. How did that work out week 1? In Penny's mind that was probably one of the biggest games he's ever played. A chance to get back at the team that cut him! He still came up a little short. Game clinching INT!
your right penny won't throw an int that game....because he will be injured and out for the season by then haha.
No hope after Brett retires - if there was the jets would have used him this season !! Huge set back and i cant wait !! Go Rams !! Also - Go Pats and Titans, with those loses Miami could lead the division or at least be ahead of the " create a miracle favre jets ". Nervous! - The Rams can win this game !! 18 seasons - I bet he's got wranglers on under his pants - Wrangler Favre is second best to the Marlboro Man !!
Alright, why dont you and Brett just get a room. Its my opinion - yet you are like a Missionary in a South American tribe. Preaching conversion to no end. Seriously though, I will respond to everything you have been saying. I said Farve would not be in the top 5 because I beleive if I was going into a season there are other QB's that I BELIEVE would give me a better chance of winning. Yes Farve is the undisputed iron man of NFL QB's. Thats a great accomplishment - and it has garnered him many records. But it does not make him the most dangerous QB of all time IMO. Yes he won 3 MVP awards and that truely is an awsome accomplishment. But....that is not winning the passing title. Its picking who was most valueable to their team. ANd honestly, IMO, at least one of those MVP's was the media sucking his jock. At least thats what I remember thinking at the time. And if you could remind me what seasons he was MVP again I would appreciate it. So without further delay here are 5 QB's I would pick for my team over Brett Farve:......IN My Opinion Joe Montana - I am not sure if hee is the best QB to ever play but he had the best career I have ever seen. Steve Young - yep might as well stick with the the niners here. All things being equel, a team with Steve Young at QB would beat a team with BF at QB 4 out of 5 games. Heck I kind of beleive that if he would not have suffered the head injuries that he would have surpassed Montana as the best to ever play IMO! Tom Brady - I hate Tom Brady but the man is Brett Farve in his prime without all the mistakes. And IMO that makes him a lot better then BF ever was. John Elway - Farve like passer but far better and scrambler and runner. He could beat you more ways then Farve. Jim Kelly - Just a pasing machine. Lost four SB's so history under rates him. Amazing decision making and field vision. He could find the open man like few other QB's in history. ANd he won a conference championship four years in a row. ANd agan, does not have a track record of mistakes like BF. (as a fan I would choose 4 confer. champs over 3 MVPs). Heres 5 more that I might give consideration over Farve Dan Fouts Dan Marino Johnny Unitis Bart Starr Troy Aikman I could probably continue the list if I thought about it long enough.
Your the reason we hate Miami fans, you trolling douche. The fact that you love the Fins and your in here talking shit when your team is in LAST PLACE is very telling. Its ok to be scared Champ, just let the fact that your team stinks set in and you will be ok. :finssuck:
Jumping into the conversation, I do think there is something up with Favre as well. After watching the last game, his mechanics just seem off. I know Brett has never had the best mechanics anyway, but his throwing motion seems odd compared to previous seasons. Maybe it is an injury or maybe it is the coaching (who is the QB coach?). BTW, INTs should never really be excused, but how many repeatedly complain about Jay Cutlers' 11 INTs or Peyton Manning's 9 INTs? Are these QBs washed up? Should they not be played? Many times there is more than one reason for high INTs than just a QB's poor decisions.
They met in the playoffs a few times if I remember correctly. I will conceed that Aikman usually had the better team though.
Further proof that Roger Staubach is the most underrated QB of all time. I don't even know how it's possible for a Cowboy QB to be underrated, but it's happened. And no Peyton Manning?
Absolutly Roger would get consideration. Lots of QB's would that my on the spot logic has over looked. There have been so many great ones its hard to remember all of them. I would probably put Roger above Aikman even though Aikman has more rings.
