Lowery gets a wake-up call- M.H. Mehta, Star- Ledger -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOWERY GETS WAKE-UP CALL CB Dwight Lowery admitted he took his benching last week to heart. The rookie was lifted in favor of veteran David Barrett in the second quarter after ineffective play. Lowery, who returned for a few plays before hitting the pine again, has struggled in recent weeks with opponents targeting him rather than Darrelle Revis, who is developing into a shutdown cornerback. Lowery admitted "a different person comes out" when he's challenged. "Any time I've had some type of challenge -- some type of obstacle -- I come back harder," Lowery said. "When I got pulled out -- when something happens to you on the field -- if you don't take it personally, you're never going to improve. Some guys look at it as if (they're) not good enough. Some guys look at it as (their) time is over. But the best guys take it to a personal level. I can take a lot out of the (benching). Obviously, it's motivation." Mangini was noncommittal about whether Lowery would strart this week. Lowery and Barrett shared the first-team reps in the portion of practice open to the media Wednesday. __________________
Great attitude. Even if he doesn't end up back in the starting lineup this season I am happy he is a Jet. Keep at it Lowery.
obviously he hasn't been playing that well the last few weeks. but whoever is opposite revis is going to get picked on. nobody looks revis' way anymore.
I like the attitude he has not to many rookies would come up with a response like that. He is in a tough position though being opposite Revis. Obviously teams are going to throw at him instead. Both our CB's struggle against bigger wideouts though. See Vincent Jackson and Dewayne Bowe.
Good personality and and intelligent player. I knew I liked him. Also makes me like Revis even more hearing more about how nobody wants to throw it in his direction anymore.
