oCorrect me if I'm wring, but didn't the draft geniuses think Montana did not have a gun for an arm and that the would not be too good? Two rotator cuff surgeries are enough for me to seriously doubt Chad's future. BUT I would not condemn Leinert's. The truth is, if Chad had the same arm strength today that he had before he got hurt, we would have won a lot more football games the last couple of years. If arm strength was the key to quarterbacking, Browning Nagle would have won a Super Bowl.
I dont know why everybody is so obsessed with a QBs arm strength. I would rather have a QBs that is smart and has good timing then some numb nut that has a cannon for a arm but no accuracy and is dumber then shit so he cant make that right chioces during a play. Furthermore how many plays during the duration of a game go for more then 30 yards. Just guessing I would say that 97% of the plays are less then 30 yards.
While arm strength is overrated, you need to zip some passes into a small hole. If you loft it there, or if you don't have the proper arm strength necessary, the ball will get knocked away or picked off.
he was healthy enough to go to a charity bowlling thing for Marshall university a couple months ago. I would not have advised it because I think his right arm should be 100% dedicated to throwing a football until he proved he's healthy. He shouldn't use that arm to bowl a ball, shift his Lamborghini, or finger his girlfriend until he proves that he can throw a football at least 50 yards without re-injuring himself....
...If I chop your arm off, it doesn't matter that it's modern medicine, we can't re-attach it. The strides are more in efficiency of things that are still possible, medicine isn't miracles. As for Montana, he had atleast an average arm, and probably a bit above average. He could zip passes when he needed to. The Niners used a lot of slants, and that's a pass that requires a high level of accuracy and very solid speed. I don't think Pennington can rely on them.
My bringing Montana, while a little off topic, was to compare his arm to leinert's arm. The original Chad's arm strength may have been a bit like montana's but the twice repaired Chad probably could not break Saran wrap let alone glass.
Well, Montana's arm strength was greater than both of them. Leinart is a bit closer to Montana, but also, the players in the NFL are now a bit faster I think as well.
Actually your quite wrong that is possible nowadays, think before you speak. For goodness sakes do you know that a hand transplant is possible now ? So your point was basically useless. I also didnt know that chad's arm was amputated. Smart Guy
Serphnx, when I brought up modern medicine there was an important point. Today's surgical procedures are more efficient, and less invasive. Rehab techniques have also improved. These factors cannot be overstated. As I originally pointed out, Tommy John surgery, where a ligament is replaced in the person's throwing elbow, has gone from a career-ender, to barely a year of recovery over the past two decades. I'm not saying Penny is all-of-a-sudden the "Bionic Baller" or anything. All I am saying is, it isn't unrealistic for him to have a full recovery. The key this time, over last time, is that he has significant rehab time. Add to that the fact that this surgery was much less invasive than the last time, and there is no reason he can't return.
Penny Power ? gunning for his first full season at the age a lot of quarterbacks are looking toward retirement; talk about heart?I think we have a real live Rudy on our hands here.
Modern medicine my ass ? I?ve read about Chad?s toughness on this site for four years; trust me the man doesn?t need modern medicine. There are a few things about Penny you should know before you write him off: ~ They replayed Chad?s infamous playoff win against Favre in France?the French surrendered just to be on the safe side. ~ When Chad throws the long ball ? the ball doesn?t move forward; the earth moves backwards. ~ Chad doesn?t churn butter; he just fires his long ball at the cow and the butter comes straight out. ~ In the fine print at the HOF it says that all records are truly held by Chad Pennington. All others listed are simply the closest anyone has ever gotten to perfection. ~ When the boogieman goes to sleep every night ? he checks under his bead for Chad Pennington.
