I don't like the Pats but say what you want, Boston is a much better football town media wise than NY. Their writers are smarter and more honest/objective about their team than our media is. Caught the Fox NE feed last week and Mike Felger who writes for The Boston Herald said that Mangini didn't distinguish himself as DC last year at all and that he expects the new HC to have way more growing pains than your average first year HC. He also said the Jets did Mangini no favors by assembling such an unproven staff . He also said he knows Doom has little respect for Penny's ability to stretch a defense and would be confident he could shut him down any time they play the Jets. That has to be weighing on Mangini's mind. You can't work for a guy like BB and not adhere to many of his philosophies on players. Hopefully, EM picked his brains on the rest of the division as well but I think we're in for a rough ride the next 2-3 seasons.
How is that so smart and honest. Mangini doesnt work in NE anymore and this guy doesnt like him now, I am sure that when he was working for NE this jerk off loved him. Furthermore I could give two shit less what some asshole from Boston think about the Jets.
Was Herm Your "Average Rookie HC" Spare us the Rookie HC talk - We had one for years who never learned and I'd say Mangini is light years ahead of any X's and O's Herm brought to the table... Did Herm ever distinguish himself as a DC? Oh yeah, never mind... Go tell the KC fans about the HC learning curve....
He is from NE, so how would he be more objective than anyone else. Mangini assembled his own staff. How is his staff unproven? Mike Westhoff (24 years experience), Tom Sutton (7 years, brought in by Parcells who sings his praises all the time), Brian Schottenheimer (8 years, brought Brees back from being a bust to starter quality), Denny Marcin (10 years, whom many teams inquired about), Markus Paul (9 years), Jimmy Raye (30 years), and Tony Wise (17 years). Many of the assistants and lesser important positional coaches are young. But it is a great mix of experience, youth, and ex-players on the staff. Everyone has to start somewhere. Everyone knows Penny will in all likelihood will have trouble. How is this new information? But no one outside the Jets really knows how his reahad is doing. They also traded for Ramsey, and considering what Schott did for Brees, that might work out for the best. Considering the FO has yet to play 1 sec of an actual game yet, it is a little premature to say how the next 2-3 years will be either way. But they have done a good job in the off-season so far in my opinion. So I will wait to see what they do in an actual game.
You want to pin your hopes on Brian Shottenheimer and Tony Wise? Good luck. Btw, Cam Cameron had 50 times more to do with Brees' success than little Shott. What have they done in the offseason? I don't think its that great.
who the hell is Cam Cameron? Brian Schott was the QB coach, how can you say someone else had more to do with his development that his positional coach?
Cameron's the offensive coordinator. He probably had just as much influence on Brees as Schottenheimer did.
Well I believe Brees praised Schottenheimer for turning his career around. Clearly Schottenheimer's presentation to Mangini was impressive. Mangini hired him so obviously he saw something he liked. Typical troll trying to stir up Jets fans. Keep in mind that anyone who has anything to do with the Pats is pissed off that Mangini left and especially pissed that he went to the Jets. I think they viewed him as BB's replacement down the road.
Who cares what some writer in Boston thinks about Mangini? Mangini left town, and I would expect there to be some bad blood because of this move. When the Jets were searching for a head coach at the end of this past season, I remember reading that Bill Bellichek was strongly against Mangini leaving to coach the Jets. It's very clear that BB had a high regard for Mangini, and there is definitely a good reason why he didn't want him to leave town and coach a division rival.
So anyone who disagrees with your pie in the sky worldview is a troll? If you don't know who Cam Cameron is maybe you're not worth corresponding to anyway. Mangini and the Jets didn't have much left to choose from when it came to hiring an OC. They got the very young son of a very conservative HC. Color me not impressed. Where did you see Pat fans pissed after Mangini left. as long as they have Doom they're fine. The Jets however, are another story. Grow up, pal. This team has spoon fed you garbage for years and you seem to lap it up while trying to delude yourself that's its caviar. The Jets are one of the worst franchises in the league for a reason. Until Mangini and this relatively weak staff (especially in comparison to the rest of the division) establishes itself I'm still convinced we're the SOJ.
I never they did any great, I siad they have done a good job so far. From getting under the cap, to adding much needed depth to the roster, Dyson was a significant signing IMO, trading away Abe so the organization can finally put that whole soap opera behind them, and changing the whole culter of the organization. No more press conferences telling the world what they were doing for the draft. Pretty good so far IMO, but the test is how it translates into the season. To judge them a success or failure now, nevermind in 2-3 years, before a single down has been played is foolish to say the least. Who said anything about pinning my hopes on Wise or Schott? The writer said the coaching staff was unproven. That is not accurate. There are a number of coaches on staff that have many years experience in the NFL. A good mix of youth, experience, and ex-players I think (and is what I said before). Brees attributed much of his turn around to Schott, and I will take his word over yours.
Pats fans knew Mangini was an asset to the organization. He quickly gained a reputation in the NFL among the caoching ranks. He had a siginifcant impact on their SB wins when he coached the DBs, even Law made it a point to mention it numerous times. Pat fans were not happy he left, but they did not make a episode out of it because BB has a knack of picking good coaches and recovering from such things. I don't know about that. The coaching staff of the rest of the division is not that impressive anymore, at least IMO. The Bills staff is well... The NE staff has suffered significant loses the past few years, although with BB it makes up for alot. Miami has a decent staff, although it is somewhat young too. My only point is it is MUCH too early to decide either way. And just because they are young, does not make them bad or immediate busts. I am willing to wait for the season and judge then.
