Can Chad's arm hold up the entire season? We will see. Will the Dolphins end up in the Playoffs? We will see. Or just say no right now.
Durability has been the question mark for Chad, when he's healthy he's good when he's not he struggles. It's very simple. We'll see what happens, hopefully this trade turns out to be a good one for us but RIGHT NOW it hasn't.
I can argue that Miami's running game is better than the Jets on a down to down basis. Therefore, that is helping protect Chad and hurting Favre, I think the O line has not done a great job protecting Favre. In order to make big plays, they have to give that extra second of protection and have not consistently. There were also numerous breakdowns against the Raiders where Favre had no chance. Many of Fvare's interceptions are his own fault, no doubt. But to say Chad is not getting help in Miami (ie "Favre has better talent around him") is not true. For example, last week Ginn took a deep slant an extra 50 yards helping Chad's stats.
Im shocked people still hate on nugent so much after seeing how terrible Feeley is.[/QUOTE] Haha. This is the first thing I thought after reading this thread.
I strongly, strongly disagree with the assertion regarding Herm. Most good kickers make about 80% of their field goals. Nugent has made 82%. He's an average kicker with the ability to hit long ones. Nothing wrong with that.
NYJunc I really hate to get started with you, but when you state: “…love the truth and hate incorrect perceptions that take over this board”, I just have to laugh! Your idea of “incorrect perceptions” tends to be leveled against people who disagree with your perceptions. The only hard truth any of us can state is the final score and the record. EVERY THING else is perception! In MY perception; Chad is having a good year because he has better coaching! When I can still call 7 of 10 plays in a row for the Jets, something is wrong. Add in the observation that Chad has a pair of deep threats and #4 doesn’t. Our guys (my perception) are possession types with little deep threat. Brett has been hit hard and IS getting old. No, I didn’t want him but it was an ideal solution for replacing Chad. I don’t think we “bought” a title game with Brett and the other high priced additions, but I still root and enjoy watching football. Your defense of Herm is classic. No other coach I can remember had to bring in a clock watcher! He is killing KC. I don’t think much of the Man-genius either. In my humble PERCEPTION our HC, O-Coord, D-Coord, and STC should be gone for 09. Talk to me after the season for replacement ideas.
How many games have lost in the past 2 yeears when Nugent missed akey kick? I'll start with the kick before half time of the first Buffalo game last year. Who's next. This kicker sucks.
Again, I'm pretty sure this game is going on at 25 other teams' message boards. Nugent is an average kicker. Kickers just happen to be frustrating as a collective entity. That's why we've decided we're going to pole vault for PATs moving forward.
Good teams can overcome poor kicking, especially when the kicks occur before halftime. The Giants missed three key kicks in a championship game and still won. Blaming a kicker is just a poor excuse.
You nailed everything except #9. Nugent kicked very well for us the last couple of years after a shaky rookie season. He missed his only FG attempt this year due to an injury. If the Jets were to release him, you could be sure Nugent would be scooped up immediately and considered a steal.......
I can agree with this. I dont think we would be better off with Chad because our coches clearly did not know how to game plan with him. Heck, even with Farve our offensive gamplans are the biggest joke in the league ATM.
