BOOMER CALLS OUT ?HORRENDOUS? THROWS BY FAVRE
Posted by Mike Florio on October 27, 2008, 5:34 p.m.
In a Monday morning interview on WEEI radio in Boston, former NFL quarterback and current WFAN radio host Boomer Esiason said that Jets fans currently are ?not happy with Brett Favre.?

Esiason described some of Favre?s recent interceptions as ?horrendous,? and that he looks like he?s struggling in the Jets offense.

In a few cases, Esiason believes that Favre was ?completely just throwing the ball up and hoping? that a teammate would catch it.

Boomer cited the fact that Favre is older than his head coach as a reason for Eric Mangini?s difficulties in controlling Favre. At one point, Boomer suggested (jokingly, we think) that Mangini might not have had a job on Monday if receiver Laveranues Coles hadn?t made a bobbling, one-handed catch on a fade-stop-style route for the game-winning score.

Here?s something that isn?t a joke ? if the currently 4-3 Jets don?t make it to the playoffs, neither Favre nor Mangini are likely to return in 2009.

Hmmm, bad throw in the red zone at a bad time returned for a touchdown. Brings back memories of Eric Allen, doesn't it Boomer? The big difference is Favre brought the team back to win. Boomer and the Jets blew the lead that day to the Rich Kotite led Eagles and lost.

So Boomer of all people should recognize what he is seeing, no? Favre has thrown balls up for grabs with the entire season on the line, he did it in OT in the playoffs in Philly one year and ended their season with a pick. Any other QB would have been crucified for it for life.

Boomer should have learned from his own mistakes, by the way, Chad is gone now, Seafood, you and Junc have to get over it, Favre has been terrible, but there's always the chance next week he will be great...one game at a time, we won, next week hopefully he will play better...

Hey, I'm a Jet fan, there's nothing to get over. Favre is here now and the issue is he's throwing too many picks, that's our problem as Jet fans. It's fair game. We're not talking about Chad in this thread, but I'm sure you can remember his play was certainly more than fair game on here when he threw costly picks for us last year.

I am not happy with Favre. He looks like he doesn't care where the ball goes.

I'm with you there. Kind of like 1978, no? We were 4-3 that year, too, let's hope this one ends better.

You can knock Boomer all you want. That doesn't change the fact that what he's saying regarding Favre tossing it up is totally true. I've never seen anything like it in over 40 years of watching professional football.

'78 was a fun season, we would have made the playoffs if we had a FG kicker, but also there were no expectations

You would remember this better than me and probably make a better comparison. I started watching the Jets in 1974 when I was 7, so I only caught the end of Namath's career. Favre now kind of reminds me of that, a vintage great game here and there but overall too many picks and trying to force throws that he probably used to be able to make.

As much as I loved Namath, most of the games I saw him play were disasters. He couldn't move in the pocket because of his knees, had to take a million sacks, and threw way too many balls up recklessly. Favre is in better shape physically and not nearly as beat up as Namath by that point, but his play certainly reminds me of that. Of course the Jets were bad then, but Namath never did pick it back up.

Boomer's past performances have absolutely zero to do with his commentary...thats what he is now, a commentator...and he is 100% correct. Some of you guys need to get off Fvres dick. Favre has been considerably worse than Chad would have been....and I hated Chad and was welcoming Favre with open arms....but he has completely sucked....yeah I know, "did you see the Arizone game"...please, enough. He needs to step it up BIG TIME or get the fuck outta here

Good comparison Seafood, though Namath's offensive line at the end was terrible.
