I think comparing teams for Wild Card spots is based on conference record (not divisional record) since we play in different divisions. Not sure how our conference records stack up against each other.
Not that it matters becuase their are 9 or 10 games left, however, divsion records are only used to place the teams within their division standings. As an example, if two teams are in the same division and at the end of the season, have the same record, and have also split their games, the division record is the next tiebreaker to determine which team is placed above the other in their division ranking. Then the higher team either wins the division (if appropriate) or is "pitted" vs. any other team within the conference with the same record to fill any open wildcard spot. For a possible wildcard spot, the teams with indentical records from different conferences are "ranked" in terms of head-to-head (if applicable), conference record, and then I think common oponents).
NE's better but sadly DEN will get the 1st rd home field advantage due to their division. Same with the NFC West over an NFC East team.
Yep. BAL is 4-3, NYJ is 3-3. Had the 2 played each other this year(They dont), then its tiebreaker. I think the division only kicks in when its 3 or more teams, which would be the case if IND wins. Not perfectly sure though.
thats a philosophy I completely agree with, but the learning and adjustments are not coming along like they used to. I see more stubbornness, especially in this season, than I used to. Its making me think that the adjustments aren't coming, and that this is the ceiling for the staff. Perhaps if his job is on the line like Coughlin's was, he'll have a change of heart and become more open to the things he's closing himself off from.
AFC East is the best division in football right now. After being arguably the worst last year. Sucks.
So we are maybe in the 6th playoff spot while being fully healthy and playing the Palmer-less Bengals, the Raiders, the Chiefs, a Brady-less Pats team in Cassel's first start, a Chargers team with 3 wins including 2 over us and the Raiders with an injured LT, and we should be celebrating and feel confident? What happens when LT heals up, when Peyton regains his rhythm and we actually play teams that can win NFL games besides beating on us? Yeah keep hope alive and all, but don't bet your house on the Jets getting into the playoffs this year. I thought we'd win the division this year especially when Brady went down, and was dreaming of a high seed, but that's all so unlikely now, if not outright impossible.
Although its still early its still a good thing when ur in the playoff picture halfway thru the year. As long as the jets can hold on and win tough games against the bills and pats they will be fine
no I mean the AFC East. NFC East was the best last year and overall is still probably the best. But they've been losing a lot recently while the AFC East has been surprising a lot of teams.
FUCK YOU! YOU'RE FIRED! Not really Srsly tho, discussing playoffs at week 8. wut? Almost as bad as those 2009 mock drafts being posted already.
For Mangini and Co, this would be too easy. They want to feel like they earned their win, not by bullying a weak run D.
