I wasn't supporting one or the other as far as options go, but I didn't see that fact addressed in the Fire Mangini thread.
I'm pretty much using who they were, pre-NFL/pre-season. I do keep hearing reports that Henne is the real deal and he may start late in the season if they are around the 5 win mark nearing the end of the season. I fear the Jets not finding a replacement and going through unstable years at QB, which will not bode well for the progression of the team.... A new QB and Coach could spell disaster, or if done correctly could be a success like ATL right now. But I'd like to see Mangini succeed and find an heir to Favre, then the team will be in contention with the other 3.
Fascinating Tidbit I heard after class today by a knowledgeable Sports dept. head - Mangini could go before Favre does if this shit goes completely to hell. Favre means more to the bottom line, regardless of what the stats show.
Changing coaches will be a terrible move as bad as mangini has been. if we kept Chad and let's say Herm stayed there's little doubt we would have been alot better right now but we made those decisions and now have to live w/ them. Favre BETTER give us 2 years. I think it's a little early to be so high on Henne, every year the dolphins have a new young QB they are high on. Chad being around for the next 3-4 years worries me ALOT more than henne developing into anything.
Regarding the OP, I didn't know there was a contest for coming up with the most stupid OP ever. Let me see what I can come up with tonight.
Try starting a thread based around judging a thread on it's title and not understanding what it's about. I bet you get that theory very well, smart guy. In fact, from now on whenever you start a thread, I will respond to the title and not read any of the posts inside it.
1. I think/agree that changing coaches would be retarded. I'm not uber-bound to Mangini, but to reduce what he's done with this franchise because we have 3 losses this year is retarded. Theres nothing wrong with seeing what he can do, and finding a replacement wouldn't be *that* easy anyway. The players like him, he works with our GM, he was handpicked by the owner, and he's learned under two of the greatest coaches in NFL history...I see no point in pushing a guy with his upside out of town just cause we're too impatient to let shit play out. 2. TF is with the Henne love? He's like the same prospect as Clemens is/was. The only difference is that his shine hasn't gotten a chance to wear off. 3. Personally, at this point in the season, I think Favre retires. It's just too much, and you can see it all over his face. He hasn't gotten comfortable within the offense at all it seems.
The problem I believe is quite different, if you don't fire Schott I think the guy may look at retirement. They need to wake up and realize Chad Pennington isn't your QB any more. Time to use this guy to his abilities not somebody elses. You should never have brought him in if you were going to try and make him a system QB.
I doubt Favre likes Mangini anymore than the rest of us. I'm sure he's still weirded out by Favre naming his kid after him. I would say that firing Mangy makes it more likely we'll keep Favre.
It's not about him liking Mangini, it's about going through a regime change at age 40. Brett Favre is not going to want to deal with that. He wants to win a Super Bowl.
What The Fu&k!!!!! I just threw up in my mouth! Fuking pats logo! Lets just face it the Jets fuked up! Way to much money in FA. for a bunch of old washed up mudda fukkas! manduffis is a lousy coach and taninbum has his head so far up woody's ass they play tonsil hockey! When are you going to build a winner!! favre should have retired 10 yrs ago and the Jets are the only team STUPID enough to pick him up. What a waste of money and a draft pick!
Schottenheimer is a good OC, the last 2 weeks haven't been on him. Do you think they opened it up against Ari but shut it down the last 2 weeks? Of course not. Favre hasn't seen the same opportunities for whatever reasons but the O hasn't been conservative. If anything we should have ran the ball ALOT more than we did on Sunday. favre and the O had opportunties all day- they didn't execute.
I don't think Shot game plan was to open it up against AZ. We scored zero in the opening period and zero in the 3rd period after Shot's brilliant half time adjustments. The Cardinals had some key injuries on D and we "opened it up" when the D put the O in unbelivable field position. We had at least 4 drives that started inside the AZ 50 a couple near the AZ 20. Against a banged up D at home in low riks situations I wouldn't attribute that to brilliant game plan and play calling. AZ couldn't cover and gave us safe field position to work in.
We barely had the ball in the 3rd qtr, we had one drive where we punted. You guys have such strange perceptions that I wonder what games you watch sometimes?
So basically...the coaching staff can't win. We score 56 points? Luck. Plus, didn't you guys see that we didn't put up points in 2 quarters, AND in one of those two quarters we gave up alot of points. Beat the Bengals by 2 TDs? Yea, but we *struggled* to do so. Beat the Dolphins? Yea, but only by 3 points so we were just as close to losing it! And the losses...well this and like 90% of the ridiculous shit being said usually comes after a loss. It's really amazing how people will reach to bash this coaching staff after a loss.
I distrusted Shotty from day 1 thought he did a good job in 06, thought he was atrocius last year and has been bad this year win or lose. Sutton we all know is a lightweight. I like Mangini but the guy is very young, needs to develop and needs a great staff around him, he has at best a second rate staff around him and it's been apparent for awhile having nothing to do with wins and losses.
