or do you see the score and that they lost and start ranting to fire everyone and anyone on the CS.

We lost for many reasons today but mainly we lost because..

    1. OL played like the 2007 line not 2008
    2. Our Wrs were atrocious today, could not get open at all. It is a shame that we finally have the QB to get the ball downfield but now don't have any WRs that can get open downfield this year. Coles is injured and has clearly lost a step, that impacts the whole WR unit.
3.Favre was terrible, another horrible decision that cost us points.
    4. Team was not ready to play
    5. Schottenheimer went to the run too late

The coaching was not very good but they were far from the only reason they lost to a horrible Raiders team and certainly not the main reason. Favre was looking to get the ball downfield, the WRs were either not open, the line didn't protect or Favre made a bad decision.

I've been preaching this since Week 2...I'm 99% sure both Mangini and Schotty call for WR's to trip or drop the ball...or just not get separation. I know for a FACT that Favre was told to throw that INT in the red zone again.

Lucky Cable called TO when they told Feely to miss.

We lost the turnover game by 3. We had an average starting position inside the 20. We got killed on specials. Half the team was cramping up. The Raiders pass defense was insane. Whatever you want to say about the Jets, that defense was great. All that being said we still could have and should have won the game.

Uhh, yeah, most of us watch the game. And yeah, the "CS" was terrible, as you yourself point out. When a team has enough talent but doesn't play well, who's to blame? The players or the coaches? Me, I blame "The Mangenius."

Give a little credit to the Raiders secondary. Even in a five wide format, they had to constantly throw to Baker. Once they could see that approach wasn't working, they returned to a more conventional offense. Which happened in the first quarter. Jones ran the ball 25 times, how is that waiting too long?

Interceptions?! Oh, but that's just Favre changing the culture of the Jets and being the maverick, gunslinging, riverboat gambler that he is.

You're right, clearly it must be the players. Just like it was Santana Moss that sucked. And Favre is an awful QB, I don't know what the hype is.

Why do you *need* to blame someone after one loss?

We were terrible today. We did not deserve to win the game. We were lucky the raiders did all they could to lose-between dropped passes, dropped ints, penalties, etc. we were miserable today

I count three losses. The Jets are 3-3 now.
Up until this game, I said many times on this very board that Jets fans should hold off criticizing the coaching staff until after the bye week. They had a full week off to prepare the Jets for three games against three weak opponents.
Well, they just lost a game they could/should have won.
I haven't given up on the season, but really, you have to wonder about "The Mangenius" and whether he can really coach a team or not.

Most of his carries came in the second half and overtime, with the passing game looking so bad in the first half this should have been the game where we just pounded the ball down their throats.

You do so when there is cause. Its not simply the fact that we lost that there is a need for blame. If the CS called better plays and we played at a more competitive level but simply lost because the Raiders were better, then there would be no need for blame. That was not the case today.

#4 basically sums up all your points. And who does the blame fall on when a team is under prepared? The head coach. While I give much credit to the Oakland secondary for keeping our wideouts in check, Mangini more often than not failed to adjust.

TJ had a great game and we failed to utilize play action to open up more opportunities in the passing game. Every time the Jets dropped backed to pass we usually went with 4 wide outs spread which practically begged Oakland to send the blitz.

While the players certainly deserve their fare share of the blame for failing to execute, it's tough to give the coaching staff a free pass when they didn't give the players a fair chance to properly execute as well.

The CS called plays that worked frequently. The running game got chunks of yards where they'd struggled before. The pulled the guards and started the stretch plays. IT WORKED. The problem is that the staff gets the players in position to make plays. They have to make them. Leon fumbles the punt. The pick of Favre in the end zone. Baker falling down. I didn't see the coaching staff out there making the mistakes.
