I was at that one, people were chanting for Reggie Bush. The irony is, in losing the game we walked out thinking we had improved our chances, and the Saints ended up with him anyway. Further evidence that there is never a reason to root for your team to lose.
JIMsection323 - My first jets game I ever attended was same one as yours! The Oakland game in '95. If I remember correctly, O'Donnell went down in pregame warmups with a sprained ankle. After taking a snap from center and dropping back in the pocket, he just tripped over his own two feet. I think he tried to play in the game that day, but he didn't last very long. Seems like soo long ago.
Honestly i cant remember who our Qb was that night. I just remember the score and the beating we took on the field and in the stands. There were sooo many Raider fans that night. Another thing i remember while taking the escaltor to the upper level Butch Huskey a former Met was standing in front of me with another Met i just can damn remember right now. If my memory serves me right they played their season final earlier that day. I would have to check the dates to be sure but im pretty sure.
Jets vs. Dolphins...O'Brien vs. Marino. I couldn't understand why the people behind me were cheering for the Dolphins. I might have cried.
You have a few games mixed up, he did get hurt against oakland but that was in 1996(in '95 he was still w/ Pitt) and he huirt his calf in warmups prior to the Oiler game in 1996. The raider blowout at night was in 1995 and Boomer was still our QB. It was the last day of the MLB erg season as 2 nights later the yanks played their first playoff game in 14 years against Seattle at Yankee Stadium.
1983 against the Falcons. It was a dark rainy day and the final season at Shea. I was 7 at the time and it was a great memory (even tho we lost).
I forgot the year. We were 6-6 tied for first with Miami. Time running out! Marino...... FAKE SPIKE!!! I think we went 3-33 from that point on.. lost the next 4 games of season went 1-15 next season then 3-13 next season something like that..... most recent game was wild-card in NE 2 years ago...
Don't take this personally but maybe you shouldn't go to any games? I was there too, we had a alot of fun down there that weekend. Turley saved us though we had gotten enough for the 1st down on the previous possession and a bad spot cost almost cost us the game.
1st game I wanna say was 83 or 84 we played the Bills and I believe Buffalo had the white helmets at the time. We kicked the shit out of them like 42-3 or something like that. It was a warm day so I think it may have been an opener. The 2nd game Jet game I attended was the Marino/Kenny O game with Kenny O and Wesley Walker going nuts. I think there were about 1000 passing yards that game. That however was not the 1st NFL game I ever atteneded, it was an Eagles/Redskins game at RFK stadium in like 82 or 83. I think Jaworski was the QB that day for Philly and Thiesman was the QB for the Skins. I was so young so I don't remember
1980 or 81 at Shea Stadium vs The Bills. Can`t remember the year to be honest. I do remember being high on pot and I was actually surprised that I was able to buy beer without being carded(I was a teen). It was a bit of a hike from NJ to Shea at that age. Bus to Manhattan, then the #7 train all the way out to Shea. About a 45 minute train ride from Port Authority Bus Terminal. We had our pot and we had our beers for the train so it went quick. It was awesome taking the train out at around 9:00am. Just the sight of all the laundry hanging out in the yards of Queens, NY was a sight to see. I had gone to several games at Shea and I always recall the clothes lines. Guess Sunday mornings was laundry day in Queens.
You know, you've probably been banned more times than he has. I think that makes you more of a troll than he is
I think the years was 1974 at Shea Stadium, the jets scored 18 points on six field goals by Bobby Howfield. What struck me most was watching Joe get hard after he threw almost every pass. The Jets line was not really that good but namath had that quick release. My dad took me and I'll never forget it. The Jets beat the Saints that day.
It was 1975 Namath had the best game he had since the superbowl . Threw for 4 Tds Game was against the Pats. I was only like 13, but I remember some Jet fan who wanted to kill one of the wideouts for the Pats. He almost went over the wall. From that day on I was Jet all the way. Before that I was in Limbo cause my Dad liked both.
I don't remember the year, I just remember Clarence Verdin of the Colts returned a punt for a TD to beat the Jets.
