I hope Boldin is okay too. When I saw members from both teams praying, I was touched. Then I started praying too.

I watched the replay about a dozen times and it looked to me like he led with the crown of his helmet. I think it was a dirty hit and Smith should be fined.

I don't think he deserves one. But in the wake of the Commish making that "making plays that can cause injury" statement to the teams last Monday, he may wind up being the example set.

If it had been Rodney Harrison in the same scenario, you'd be leading the mob and you know it.

Anyone notice the crowd Booing when warner ran another play after the hit? Talk about a time when you should just kneel down and take the loss. But it is funny how nobody notices when the crowd shows class like in this case, but only mention when they think we are showing poor class.

Even johnnyd would be frowned upon for a helmit to helmit collision.

It looks like he led with the helmet because of the adjusted body angle from Rhodes' hit from behind.
Had Rhodes NOT hit Boldin, Smith would have tackle him leaning forward across Boldins body. This happened at lightning speed as well , why on earth would any player that far ahead in a game try to delibrately do something like that, it doen't make any sense.
With or without green tinted spectacles on, I'm standing by Smith.

Yeah good point. And they definitely should have just kneeled it it.

But on the bright side, Revis got another pick off that play which helps his 2008 Pro Bowl campaign.

I found myself asking the same question during the 04/05 playoffs when Eric Barton threw a forearm into the head of Drew Brees while we were very close to advancing to the next round. In a game that is so charged with adrenaline, with young players trying to save their starting spots, sometimes they do stupefying things.

You think negatively about a Jet? Noooo.

What reason would Smith have to go ahead and hit one of the leagues most respected players with a 14 point lead? To make a name for himself? Amongst who? To actually hurt him?

    You like anti-logic don't you?

Smith definitely intended to hit him, as he was playing football, and should've been trying to hit him. Whether he meant to hit helmet to helmet is debatable, and unprovable. What is provable though is that Smith led into the tackle with his helmet. Rules are put in place in order to protect players. When players lead with their helmets while tackling, players get hurt. Smith led with his helmet, and Boldin got hurt. Smith broke the rules. Smith will pay.

Thank god. That hit was the worst I can remember seeing in a long time.

im pretty sure everyone agrees it was not a good hit. i think what people are just trying to say is it was not a dirty hit. by not dirty i mean he did not mean to do what he did. if he purposely tried to take him out with a shot to the head then it is dirty.

either way it is against the rules and he will be fined. it should have been a personal foul too. i dont think anyone should be arguing that there should be no fine for the hit as it was dangerous. i just dont feel it was intentional on smiths part.

glad to know he is gonna be ok though that looked really bad at the time.

Maybe you can look at the post right above yours for the explanation. And the one right below it, too. But I doubt you really want an explanation, otherwise you wouldn't be dismissive and sarcastic all the time. The last thing you want is to understand someone's POV, only to belittle it. Which is why you are a waste of a post. Among other reasons.

Football moves too fast for there to be intention on a play like that. The problem with it was the technique, which is why Smith was wrong.

Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin has fractured sinus

By BOB BAUM, AP Sports Writer

TEMPE, Ariz. - Anquan Boldin has a fractured sinus as a result of what he acknowledges was the worst hit he's received in a football game.

The Arizona Cardinals standout wide receiver doesn't know how long he will be sidelined, but when he returns, he says, there will be no change in his trademark tough, aggressive style.
