Who would you get if you were to replace Mangini?

Who would you get if you were to replace Mangini?

I would say Bill Cowher or Brian Billick. Or would you go with a fresh face like we did with Mangini? Or Lets just wait till next season and see who is availiable like Wade Philips or Jason Garrett. Or bring back Pete Carrol.

Becuase at this rate in our division we are looking really bad with all the changes and money that we made and spent. While the teams around us are doing their thing like Miami (this hurts me to say it) and Buffalo looking better then we have ever looked in awhile.

I thought that first year Mangini was here was a fluke because he took over a Herm team that had most of it pieces and the players were health (just like tampa bay when gruden took over and won the super bowl with dungys players).

The Jets have the players but we are not using them to the best of their abilities. Especially our offense. Your telling we dont have player as good as the ones that are on Green Bay?

My changes would be to this team would be:

    1. Find that QB of the future (even though I did like what i saw out of Ratliff). Because I never really understood why we got Favre. Stupid move. Maybe we should draft another QB like Tim Teebow. Or make a trade to get Colt Brennan from the Redskins.

    2. We should get Norm Chow to be our quarterback coach no matter what coach we get to replace mangini. I suggest this because of his proven track record with developing QBs. Just look what he did with Vince Young and then they let chow go and now Young is in toilet (but hes got his own issues).

    3. Find a backup for Kris Jenkins because hour defense doesnt work with out him.

    4. We need to do it fast because these players arent getting any younger and with our new stadium we need fans to fill the seats.

If you get guys who have SB rings, expect none-- No coach has ever gotten a ring with 2 different teams... get a DC or OC from a winning SB coach, those guys usually win them - like the Parcells or BB or Walsh trees. Garrett is tied up in Dallas, forget him. Phillips is a no. Carrol isn't leaving USC.

QB is the most important person on the field, maybe Ratiff - I'd like another QB drafted, i don't care which round.

NT backup - Raji out of BC, 2nd round.

The seats will be paid for, this is NY - the largest market in sports... Will they be filled? In this new corporate age of seat selling - do not expect rabid fans filling the seats in large markets anymore.

Mangini is guaranteed 09, so wait until the turn of the decade for this. I think he's getting an extension - Woddy buys into Tangini's long term plans... "win now" is farce, its fan and Marketing created.

Bill Cowher if we were to look out of town. Callahan if we were to hire in-house....

I haven't totally given up on Mangini yet though; it's a marathon not a sprint.

I agree with what you're saying, but it's been said a thousand times. I still think it's too early to tell with Mangini. I am thoroughly unimpressed with how we've played, with some of the calls, and a lot of the decision-making, but I still feel the team is headed generally in the right direction... except for that whole trading for Favre thing, which, in my opinion, was a terrible and idiotic decision.

well if by "had most of it pieces" you mean "was mostly in pieces", I agree with this too

    :)

Garrett is not going to be available. He is going to be the next head coach of the Cowboys.

Mike Martz, OC for San Francisco. Great offensive mind. Architect of the "Greatest Show on Turf" Rams offense in the late 90's.

Why the hell would the Jets want him? He's never won a playoff game and he is not a New York/New Jersey guy whatsoever. Plus, he's 61 years old. He's not young.

Stick with Mangini. This year and next atleast. He has built this machine, lets see how it turns out before we scrap it.

Raiders defensive coordinator Rob Ryan would be another good hire. I'm sure he'd love to get out of that mess in Oakland.

Most, if not all, of these guys will be NFL head coaches-

Mike Singletary, 49ers assistant head coach/defense
    Mike Zimmer, Bengals defensive coordinator
    Jim Schwartz, Titans defensive coordinator
Leslie Frazier, Vikings defensive coordinator/assistant head coach
    Steve Spagnuolo, Giants defensive coordinator
Todd Haley, Cardinals offensive coordinator (former Jets coach)
    Mike Trgovac, Panthers defensive coordinator

MIke Martz would be a great addition in the O.C. role. He did have immense success as a head coach but my gut feeling says no in a head coaches role.

Singletary is long overdue. He's going to be a great head coach.

Spagnuolo is a very well respected DC and will be a hot commodity next off season. I'm sure staying in NY would be a plus to recruit him.

After seeing some of the defensive playcalling in Oakland, I'm not sure I'd want Rob Ryan anymore.

From this group I would choose Singletary or Spagnuolo. I would also include Russ Grimm...

That being said Mangini will most likely still be here. We've only played 3 games.

If anything, I wish we had a new DC.

How many Who's the next HC threads do we need? One is too many & this one is even more ridiculous than the first 3 or so.

If the Jets win this weekend, this type of thread is going to look pretty silly.

If they lose in dismal fashion, however, I will join right in. With relish.

I wonder if the CS and players get together on weekends and wonder 'What fanbase would you replace our current fanbase with?'

Why? This has been said about Singletary for a few years now. He has no coordinator experience, ever. I do not see anything on his resume that sticks out except he was a great linebacker. But nothing as far as coaching goes.

Singletary strikes me as Herm Edwards without the sermons.
