You get the feeling that Bobby Cox just doesn't give a damn. One of the announcers had predicted that either he or Manuel would get thrown out because of the incompetent ump behind the plate, and I think if Cox still cared he would have been. And now Castillo gets a hit. Wright HAS to do something here.
Or maybe not. Incredibly important win, especially since the chances that the Mets win with Pedro starting tomorrow can't be more than 40%.
we'll we have a 2.5 game lead for a playoff spot, w/9 to go, and the extra half game to make up. i like our chances, the brewers have been bad latley
Hey, go ahead and say it - the Mets magic number is 7. Edit: This isn't technically true. A combination of 7 Mets wins and Brewers losses will eliminate the Brewers, but that wouldn't guarantee that the Mets would take the wild card; if the combination only came from 7 Brewers losses (because the Mets also lost all their games), for example, it would be possible for Florida, Houston or St. Louis to sneak in for the wild card. We can say this: even if the Mets win only 5 of their last 9 games, it is still pretty likely that they will make the postseason, since then only Milwaukee could catch them, and they would have to go 7-1 just to tie and force a playoff game.
I know that Stokes didn't officially qualify for a save because the Mets had a 4 run lead, but they really should make an exception and give him one because he's on the Mets and pitched two scoreless innings.
quite the surprise we pulled it out last night. lots of fist pumping as i listened to my walkman radio at a local food joint
Reds 4 Brewers 3, as Sabathia is beaten on 3 unearned runs and Fielder strikes out with the bases loaded and two outs in the 9th. Mets are 1/2 game up on Philadelphia and 3 up on Milwaukee (4 in the loss column).
Do we really need to keep mentioning the Brewers? They've lost 15 out of their last 19, that team has been dead in the water for awhile. The Mets are going to make the playoffs, hopefully as the division winner so they can avoid the Cubs in the first round.
yeah the brewers look like there done, kinda like how pedro looks right now ugh. but as far as avoiding the cubs, teams dont play to do that, the division means home field in the 1st rd. and thats were our focus should be
