From a Chargers fan standpoint, this is actually the best I've seen Philip Rivers play as the QB of the Chargers. He was erratic in 2006 (but still managed to lead the team to a 14-2 season) and first half of 2007. He caught fire in the second half of '07 and in the playoffs last season, and it seems that has carried over in the first two games this year. His accuracy has been very good and dead on, especially in the long balls. He really shouldn't have an interception in his stat right now -- the replay booth in Denver was experiencing some technical difficulty and didn't work in time for Ed Hochuli to overturn the ruling on the field that Chambers was already down prior to Bailey stripping the ball. I don't think he could throw the ball 60 yards downfield -- that's not his strength. But he's got a good command of the playbook now and knows how to exploit the weak spot in the defense effectively. You can rattle him by always pressuring him. He's not as effective when he's running out of the pocket. It's such an eyesore to see him run. One guy you folks should take notice of is rookie fullback Mike Tolbert. He's becoming Rivers' favorite 3rd option in passing plays, and not many teams are aware of Tolbert's catch-and-run ability. He's more explosive than Lorenzo Neal, who the Chargers let go this year, and plays more like a runningback. Darren Sproles is also quicker, shiftier and harder to tackle in the open field because of his size, but he may not be the featured tailback if LT can go at least 85% of his capacity.
Well, it's really the Jets fans I'm addressing, not the Jets players. I mean, seriously, how much do you know about Tolbert?
I firmly believe that Phillip Rivers completely sucks. He's gotten lucky so far but he is an average QB at best.
Good TE's have always given us problems. I think Revis will be able to hold down Chambers and Lowery will handle Jackson fine. It'll be interesting to see how we play Gates. I would imagine that it will be Rhodes taking him on 1 on 1 but that may hurt us on down field pass plays
