Has anyone taken the new train/bus to the game? I have a parking pass, but I heard parking was a mess!!! I think it might just be easier to take public trans.

** look further down for info about bus**

I think I heard that NJ Transit has abandoned the train/bus thing and it is now back to just the bus from the port authority like the old days

NJ TRANSIT OFFERS MORE CHOICES TO JETS/GIANTS GAMES

Bus No. 351 service restored for fans

    September 15, 2008
    NJT-08-077

NEWARK, NJ — In an effort to give football fans additional travel options, NJ TRANSIT today announced that it will restore direct bus service from the Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT) for football games at Giants Stadium while continuing to operate the new rail/bus service via Secaucus Junction.

Beginning Sunday, September 21, NJ TRANSIT will operate No. 351 direct bus service from the PABT to the Meadowlands Sports Complex for all Jets and Giants home football games. In addition, the new No. 353 rail/bus shuttle from Penn Station New York with connecting bus service at Secaucus Junction will also be available for football fans going to the Meadowlands – giving customers both rail and bus options for games this season.

"Through the experience of both teams’ home-openers, we learned that we need to provide both modes of service to address the growth in ridership on the No. 351 service to the stadium," said Richard Sarles, Executive Director of NJ TRANSIT. "Clearly, this allows us to respond to fans’ needs as well as meet growing ridership which is up about 50 percent in advance of new rail link service coming on line next year."

"We appreciate NJ TRANSIT’s flexibility and responsiveness in providing an additional option for our fans traveling from Manhattan, "said Pat Hanlon, spokesperson for the New York Giants. "We have had two big events in the past two weeks – the NFL Kickoff game on Thursday, September 4 and Jets-New England yesterday – that certainly have presented challenges, and NJ TRANSIT is demonstrating it will do what is necessary to meet the challenge."

"Mass transit is an important alternative for Jets and Giants fans to attend games. We support NJ TRANSIT’s decision and we look forward to working with them in the future to provide all fans with the best service possible, " said Bob Parente, Jets Vice President of Operations.

All other events at the Meadowlands Sports Complex – soccer games, horse racing, concerts, etc. – will be served by the No. 353 rail/bus service from Penn Station New York with connecting bus service at Secaucus Junction to the Meadowlands.

Customers attending Meadowlands events are encouraged to visit www.njtransit.com before starting their trip.

NJ TRANSIT is the nation's largest statewide public transportation system providing more than 895,000 weekday trips on 240 bus routes, three light rail lines and 11 commuter rail lines. It is the third largest transit system in the country with 164 rail stations, 60 light rail stations and more than 18,000 bus stops linking major points in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia.

Thank God. The train/bus was terrible. I got a ride to the game but took that route home.

Waited for atleast 45 minutes as the line wrapped completely around the practice field and waited for about 20 minutes to get on a train at Secaucus. The only plus of the whole thing was that I didn't pay for the way home. Shitty trip otherwise.

Last year when I went to the game I had to wait a lot longer than 45min to get on the bus back to Manhattan.

I'm glad they're offering both options now though, hopefully the bus will now have a much shorter line to get back.

Having BOTH options is critical as it:

    1. will be the only option next year with the construction of rail to Meadowlands from SEC.
    2. it makes it much easier for commuters coming from Jersey.
    3. having 2 options likely means having more frequent buses going SOMEWHERE near Manhattan! Whether I am headed to the Tunnel or to a train station, I don't care if I am stuck in traffic so long as I am not standing outside on line!!

Where are you staying in Jersey? If you go to http://www.njtransit.com/sf/sf_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=TrainSchedulesTo

click the name of the station you are near, than Secaucus Junction. I am not sure what you would pay. Maybe trying calling njtransit. tell they you are taking the train from station x to the game what option do you choose on the ticket machine. There are no attendants at most stations so you buy it from a machine. But yes it is an option.

I exchanged emails with NJ Transit before the season, and they said commuters from NJ could buy a round trip bus ticket in Secaucus for $6. I still haven't tried this option, but may try for the Cincy game.

Bump .. I'm Going to the Carolina Game tomorrow. Im still not quite sure which is the best way to go coming from Manhattan.

Bus from Port Authority? or Train from Penn Station - SEC Line
What about driving there? Does anyone know how much parking costs? I dont have the parking pass and I dont mind pay as long as its manageable

What about the trip back? Which option is the best one? Thanks!
